About the author (1999)

Meredith, Harvard University (History and Philosophy of Religion), has taught religious studies and film at the University of the Pacific (Stockton, California) for thirty-three years. He has held Senior Fulbright Lectureships in Austria and Indonesia, was an Affiliate at the East-West Center in Hawaii, and Resident Faculty for Callison College in Kyoto, Japan. He has received Distinguished Teaching Awards (National Association of United Methodist Colleges, and Pacific), and honorary doctorates from Hawaii Loa College and Southwestern University, his alma mater.
