holy word they shall profitably learn, they may indeed fulfil the same. Make them to be helpers in the Lord, workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, and giving to every one his portion of meat in due season. Give them faith and love, patience, perseverance, and humility. Pour out upon them the spirit of grace and supplication, and give them charity the bond of perfectness.

May they be influenced by love to Christ, in feeding his lambs may they feed his flock with a ready mind, and be themselves ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, may they receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

May the dew of thy Spirit descend also upon all who have come here to be instructed. Lord, open their hearts, that they may attend to the things spoken, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save their souls. May the young be taught here to know the Lord early; may they spring up as among the grass, as willows by the watercourses. May one say, I am the Lord's, and another call himself by the name of Jacob, and another subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel. May all our children be taught of God, and know those Scriptures, which are able to make them wise unto salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.

Lord, save them from the snares and perils of our times. Keep them by thy power through faith unto salvation. Keep them walking in the steps of our adorable Redeemer, and give them grace to adorn in all things the doctrine of God their Saviour. Oh! may

this school prove a blessing to the parish, and to all connected with it. Lord, make it a nursery for heaven. Oh! may there be many a bud of promise here, many a blossom watered by thy grace, many a tree of righteousness, which shall bear fruit in age, and at last be transplanted to the paradise of God.

Hear us, and be with us now in the study of thy word, and let all be done with a view to thy glory, and aid and assist us in all our efforts to make known the riches of thy grace, for our Saviour Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

PRAYER AT CONCLUSION OF SUNDAY OR OTHER SCHOOL.

O HEAVENLY FATHER, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified, graciously give thine increase, to the seed which has now been sown in this place. May the truths which have here been taught, be impressed by thy Spirit upon all our hearts.

Lord, it is not thy will that one of these little ones should perish; Oh! give unto them life eternal: teach them that this is life eternal, to know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. Oh! give them this knowledge.

Lord, we pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil; that they may not be of the world, even as

their Saviour was not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth.

O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but grant that these may know thee, and thy Son Jesus Christ, and that they may at last behold thy glory and dwell with thee for ever. Oh! may Christ crucified affect their hearts, as the power of God and the wisdom of God; and may he be of God made unto them wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. Lord, go forth with them from this school, and may thy presence always abide with them, leading them by patient continuance in welldoing, to seek for glory, and honour, and immortality.

May the grace of God which bringeth salvation, teach them to deny all ungodliness, and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ; and may we hear at last from his own blessed lips, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." These and all other mercies, we ask in the name and for the merit of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
