How can we render the instructions which we have received profitable?

5 HAD the disciples understood these instructions? Who spoke to Jesus?

What did Thomas say to Jesus?

What question did he ask?

Do you think Thomas desired to know thesc things?

Is this the feeling which you cherish? 6 WHAT did Jesus reply to Thomas?

How did he describe the way by which they must come ?

What does Paul say on this subject? Rom. 5:2. How has this way been opened?—Heb. 10: 19, 20.

What will be the punishment of those who neglect, and the reward of such as walk in that way?-Matt. 25: 46.

What else did Jesus call himself?

Can we obtain eternal life in any other way than
by believing the truth as taught by Jesus?
He told them the only way of access to God.
What is that?

In whose name should we seek blessings of God? 7 THE Father and Son are intimately connected. How has God most clearly manifested his character?

Whom did Jesus tell his disciples they knew? Whom had they seen?

With what declaration does this agree?- V. 6. Can you name some occasions on which it was plain that Jesus possessed the attributes of God?

In raising the dead, what attribute of God was employed?

What, in seeing the thoughts of men's hearts? Are we to suppose Jesus possesses the same attributes now?

Does this thought comfort you, or make you unhappy?

GENERAL QUESTION.

Will you give me the history of Thomas, repeating, if you can, the places where he is named in the New Testament?

CH. 14:8- 17.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us,

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you, I speak not of myself: but the Father, that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shali he do also; and greater works than

Had he intimated this before? How? - Chap. 6:57, 58.

11 WHAT does Jesus again call on his disciples to believe?

On what evidence does he require them to believe this?

Were his works sufficient to prove what he required them to believe, or were they not?

Do you with all your heart believe that the Father dwells in the Son?

12 JESUS encourages his disciples as he is about to
leave them. What does he tell them?

GENERAL

QUESTION.

Which of the apostles performed miracles, and

what were they?

[blocks in formation]

WHAT had Jesus promised his disciples as a substitute for his own presence and teachings?

18 Now he encourages them by another promise: what is it?

Did Jesus act as a Father to his disciples, or as a
Master?

Did he ever call them children? Can you repeat
any instances?

Jesus consoles his disciples with still another promise: what is it?
