Let us not be so tempted that we fall into distrust, but may we patiently wait until Thou fill us with Thy benefits, and chiefly with Thy heavenly and spiritual treasures; so that we may always give thanks unto Thee, and rest wholly on Thy mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FRIDAY EVENING.

O ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who of Thy immeasurable goodness hast revealed Thyself unto us in Him; O Maker and Preserver of all things; O merciful Judge, who hast said, As I live, I have no pleasure in the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his evil ways and live; who also hast said, Call upon Me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver thee; have mercy upon us, for Jesus Christ's sake, whom Thou wouldest should be made for us a Sacrifice, a Mediator, a Propitiation, to the end that Thou mightest show forth Thy wrath against sin, and Thy unspeakable mercy towards mankind. Sanctify and illuminate our hearts and souls by Thy Holy Spirit, that we may truly believe in Thee, call upon Thee, be thankful unto Thee, and obedient to Thy holy will.

Defend and govern Thy Church, as Thou hast promised; preserve this realm in the faith of Thy holy Name, and maintain the ministry of Thy holy Word and Gospel; that the kingdom of Thy dear Son may advance and increase throughout the world.

O Lord Jesus, who wast crucified for us, and raised again from the dead, and art now exalted at the right hand of God, that Thou mayest give gifts unto men: Thou who hast said, Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you; have mercy upon us; pray the Father for us; sanctify and govern us by Thy Holy Spirit, and help and succour us in all our necessities; as Thou hast promised, saying, I will not leave you comfortless, I will come unto you.

O Holy Spirit, who wast poured upon the Apostles, and wast promised unto us by Jesus our Redeemer, to kindle in us a true faith and calling upon God, make, we pray Thee, to arise in our hearts a true fear of God, and a true faith in the mercy which the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ hath promised us for His Son's sake. Be Thou our comforter in all dangers; enlighten our understandings,

and fill our hearts with spiritual desires, and so renew us both in soul and body, that we may die unto sin and live unto righteousness, to the praise of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

SATURDAY MORNING.

O BOUNTIFUL LORD JESUS, have pity upon us, mercifully hear us, and despise not our prayers. Thou hast created us; Thou hast redeemed us from the bondage of sin, death, and hell,—not with silver or gold, but with Thy most precious body once offered on the cross, and Thine own blood, shed once for all, for our ransom. Therefore cast us not away, whom by Thy wisdom Thou hast made; despise us not, whom with such cost Thou hast redeemed; nor let our sinfulness destroy that which Thy goodness hath builded. Now, while we live, have mercy upon us; while we have time to repent, look upon us as Thou didst upon Peter, that we too may bewail our sins, and find mercy in life and in death. We acknowledge that if Thou shouldest deal with us according to Thy justice, we have deserved everlasting death. And therefore we cast ourselves on
