Thy mercy, O Lord Jesus, trusting to obtain favour, not for our merits, but for Thine, blessed Saviour, who hast given Thyself as an acceptable sacrifice to the Father, to appease His wrath, and to bring all sinners, in true repentance and amendment of life, unto His favour again.

Receive us into the number of Thy chosen ; forgive us all our sins; grant us grace to lead a godly and innocent life; give us Thy heavenly wisdom; inspire our hearts with faith, hope, and charity; give us grace to be humble in prosperity; patient in adversity; obedient to those whom Thou hast set over us; faithful and upright in all our dealings; living in holiness and purity before Thee; giving none offence, but doing good, as we have ability, unto all men; so that Thy Name may be glorified in us during this present life, and that finally we may attain unto everlasting life; not for our worthiness, but through Thy mercy, and through the merits of Thy death and passion. And unto Thee, O Lord Jesus, with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, be endless praise. Amen.

SATURDAY EVENING.

O LORD our heavenly Father, the God of all goodness and wisdom, who art full of mercy and pity, we bless and praise Thee for Thy great wisdom and infinite goodness, which Thou hast shown towards all Thy creatures, but especially towards us, in that Thou hast given us not only being and life, but all other Thine infinite benefits.

Thou hast vouchsafed to deliver us, by the light of Thy Gospel, from the darkness of error and ignorance; Thou hast drawn us out of the dungeon of death, whereunto we were condemned through the corruption of our nature, and hast brought us into the kingdom of Thy well-beloved Son, who gave Himself for our sins, according to Thy good pleasure and everlasting ordinance. Thou hast received us into Thy Church, and hast called us to be partakers of the everlasting inheritance of Thy dear Son, to be of that

royal priesthood which shall offer the sacrifices of eternal praise and thanksgiving to Thy holy Name, in Thy heavenly temple.

Grant unto us that all our lives may be consecrated to continual thanksgiving, to show forth with Thy holy people Thy mighty works, who hast called us out of darkness into Thy wonderful light. Give us grace to offer unto Thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and to call upon Thy Name. Unto Thee, O King eternal, immortal and invisible; unto Thee, O God, who only art good, and only wise, be honour and glory for ever.

O Lord Jesu Christ, the light of all them that put their trust in Thee, and the only physician of our souls, Thou knowest that darkness and disorder are fallen upon all our powers and senses. Our reason, judgment, understanding, and will are utterly corrupted, so that of ourselves we cannot see nor discern anything aright. And if through Thine enlightenment we attain to the sight of any truth, yet doth the stubbornness of our will rebel against it. Make haste, O Lord, to help us, lest we fall into wilful error and unbelief, and be cast into utter darkness.

Create in us a pure heart, and renew a right spirit within us. Bind up the wounds of our souls, wash them with Thy precious blood, and heal them through the anointing of Thy Holy Spirit. Repair that heavenly image which is defaced in us through sin, and adorn it again with Thine own righteousness; that we, being renewed and sanctified, may render acceptable praises to Thee in Thy holy Church, who with the Father and the Holy Ghost, art one God, blessed for ever Amen.

SUNDAY MORNING.

HOLY, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, we miserable sinners humbly acknowledge that we are unworthy to pray unto Thee; but since Thou hast commanded us to make prayers and intercessions for all men, we, trusting in Thine infinite goodness, commend to Thy mercy and Divine providence the wants and necessities of all mankind.

Lord, let it be Thy good pleasure to restore to Thy universal Church, primitive peace and purity, and to preserve it against the gates of hell. And especially we implore Thy mercy for this nation, for the iniquity of
