THE first is mention'd, Pf. lxxxi. 10, There shall no strange Aleim be in thee. Ib. lxxxvii. 10, or stretched out our Hands to a ftrange Alcim. This Word is explain'd in the Second Part of M. P. p. 130, and is defcriptive of the Grains which compofe the Spirit, as they come from the utmost Difperfions; thence

the Word is apply'd to any Thing or Things which come from a great Distance, and fo to Strangers: But it cannot be mistaken as an Object of Worship, because they worshipped but one Substance; and because it is also apply'd to the Actions of the Spirit at reft, to comprefs; in Motion, to blow, to impel, to difperfe: And as these make the Rays the Emblem of Irradiation inward, towards the Head in a Crown, fo a Crown, and in a fpiritual Senfe to infufe, &c. and to separate to fpiritual Ufes: God claims thefe, their Motion, Course and Proportion in cach Scafon. With regard to the Sun and this Orb. Job. xxxviii. 32. Doft thou make the Grains come forth in their Seafon. 2 Sam. xxii. 40. Thou haft girded me with Strength. And many of the Punishments alluding to the Customs of the Heathens, in purifying Things by the Spirit, and in Oppofition to the Attributes they gave to it, are threaten'd under this Word. Jer. li. 2, I will raise a deftroying Wind; I will fend unto Babylon Fanners, that fhall fan her, and shall empty her Land. Jer.v. 19, Asye have for faken me, and ferved ftrange Gods in your Land, fo ye shall ferve Strangers in a Land that is not yours. Ezek. xi. 9, I will deliver you into the Hands of Strangers.

Levit. xxvi. 33, I will difper fe you among Heathen. I Kings xiv. 15. And shalt fcatter them beyond the River. Ifa. xli. 16. Thou shalt fan them, and the Wind fhall carry them away; and many more under this Word, and others to the fame Purpose. This was to represent the Spirit coming in on every Side, to fupply the Fire, and in a fpiritual Senfe, to fanctify the Incense upon the Altar, fo upon the Table, and the Ark. Where there is no Diftinction, the Word may be taken in general; but after an Enumeration of the Fluxes of Light, and as the Spirit was appointed to be the Inftrument of Force, or Impulfe, I take it to be a general Defcription of the Force of the Spirit, tho' that

is, as 'tis always exprefs'd, with the Co-operation of the other two Names. I think 'tis from the Verb 713," To fwell, puff up, inflate, or come in, fufflate, or blow up.' It operates by Expanfion, in Compreffion, in Motion, of the Orbs, and all other Bodies and Fluids. When 'tis plural, it refers to all the three Names, or the particular Attributes; of which in their Places. The Emblem was a Goat: There were feveral Perfons and Places named from this. This, by Way of Claim, is made one of the chief Attributes of Jehovah, in a vaft Number So in Claims by Creation, Formation, &c. Neh. ix. 6, Thou, even thou art Jehovah alone: Thou hast made the Names, the Names of the Names, with all their Hoft-and thou preferveft them all, and the Heft of the Names worfhippeth thee. Pfal.xxxiii. 6, By the Word of Jehovah (the Effence exifting) were the Names made, and all the Hoft of them by the Breath of his Mouth. Ifa. xl. 26, Lift up your Eyes on high, and behold who hath created thefe Things, that bringeth out their Hoft by Number: He calleth them all by Names, by the Greatness of his Might; for that he is ftrong in Power, not one faileth.
