of the fame month, and totally fubdu'd them in the following month of May; when many of thefe poor People were kill'd and barbaroufly flaughtered: great numbers caft into Prifon, and inhumanely us'd there: and the miferable remainders of them were at length releas'd out of Prison, and permitted to depart about the beginning of December: fo that the total dif fipation of them was not compleated till that time,or the beginning of December the fame year 1686. In the mean time, thefe poor Vaudois were very kindly receiv'd,and fuccour'd by the Proteftant States, particularly thofe of Holland, Brandenburgh, Geneva and Switzerland: and fo preferv'd from ruin. Towards the latter end of the year, 1689. about three years and an half after the publication of the Edict abovemention'd in the Valleys,or the beginning of its execution; they pafs'd the Lake of Geneva fecretly: and entring Savoy with their Swords in their hands, they recover'd their Ancient Poffeffions: and by the month of April, A. D.1690, established themselves in it; notwithstanding the oppofition of the Troops of France and Savoy; of whom they, who were comparatively but a few, flew great Numbers with inconfiderable lofs; till the Duke himself, who had now. left the French Intereft, by his League, and an Edict fign'd June 4, 1690, jut 3. years after their total diffipation, re-call'd the reft of them, and re-establifh'd them; with liberty to the French Refugees themselves to return with them alfo.So that on the whole these Vaudois, when they were about to finish their teftimony, or near the conclufion of their 1260 years Prophe-cy in fackcloth, have been flain; i. e. in prophetick ftile Imprifon'd, Murder'd, Expel'd and Banish'd; they were not: fuffer'd to be utterly ruin'd, or put into graves by the Proteftant States, who fupported and affifted them. They have continued in that ftate of expulfion three years and an half, exactly according to this Prophecy; and that in the publick view of the Papifts, and to their great joy. And after those three years and an half were over, the Spirit of Life from God has enter'd into them, and they have rifen again from the dead, and ftood upon their feet, i. e. recover'd their Old Habitations, and obtain'd the Pardon and Protection of their Prince; and fo terribly defeated their Numerous Enemies, that Fear and Ter

ror could not but fall upon them thereupon; exactly also as this
Prophecy foretold of them. And this Event is the more to be
obferv'd, becaufe it takes in the Refurrection of both the Wit-
neffes, the Waldenfes, and Albigenfes, which have been a † uni-
ted People, and dwelt together in thefe Valleys of Piedmont
ever fince the conclufion of the Crufadoes against the latter
of them in the thirteenth Century; and because it was from this
Prophecy exprefly foretold before it happen'd,by the moftlearn-
ed the Lord Bishop of Worcester,as is well known to many, and
exactly come to pafs accordingly. And thus far of this Pro-
phecy, feems to me to have been already fulfill'd, and that very
remarkably. But the reft being, I think, yet future, I shall
not attempt any particular interpretation of it.

Corollary 1: Since this Prophecy of the two Witnesses, their Teftimony, their being flain, and standing upon their Feet, and afcending afterward to Heaven in a Cloud, are all evident Allufions Apoc. i. 15. to our Saviour Chrift, who is ftil'd in this Book the faithful and true Witness: who Witnessed or Teftify'd to thofe great Truths he came to Reveal; and that in an Afflicted or Sackcloth Condition; who was flain, and rose again, and afcended up to Heaven in a Cloud; as we all know from our common Christianity; It will not, perhaps, be unreasonable to look on the Actions of Chrift here alluded to, as the Types of the correspondent ones before us: and it will be therefore not improper, nor disagreeable to the de

Corollary 2. Since therefore the former, and lesser part of our

Saviour's Ministry was more private, and the latter and larger, Harmony of more publick, as has been prov'd elsewhere: fo ought it to have the 4 Evang. been in the cafe of thefe Witnesses; and that it was fo accordingly, p. 131.&c. is evident in Hiftory. For altho, as Dr. Allix has prov'd, they were never entirely under the Church of Rome; yet the first and main publick Seceffion, and Separation, may not amifs be efteemed to have been when the Archiepifcopal See and Church of Milan, (within whofe Furifdiction, or in whofe Neighborhood, thefe primi tive Oppofers of Popery then were:) directly departed from the Obedience of the See of Rome. Hear an account of it in the words of Sigonius. A. D. 844. Angilbertus Mediolanenfis De regno Ita. Suffice. As 1700 days, which is about the whole time of our See Harmony Saviour's Ministry: to 524 days, which is about the time of his ubi fupra. private Miniftry: So is 1260 years, the whole time of the Witneffes Testimony, to 388 years, the time of their private Testimony; from A. D.456.to A. D. 844. Or as about 1700. the whole du ration of Chrift's Ministry: to about 1176 days, the time of his publick Miniftry: fo is 1260 years, the duration of their whole Teftimony: to 872 years, the time of their publick Teftimony: from A. D. 844. to A.D. 1716. I don't indeed know how far fuch Accuracy or Niceness may be expected, or depended on; however I take it to be too confiderable to be wholly omitted, and fo having fet it down, I leave it as it is to the Reader's ImpartialConfideration.

Corollary 4. And by a like Analogy, but of more certainty and importance, we may easily find the distance between the Death of zbefe Witnesses, already paft, and their future Afcenfion to Heaven. For as about 1700, the days of Christ's whole Ministry

VISION III.

The Woman with Child.

ND there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the fun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her bead a crown of twelve stars.

2. And he being with child, cried, travailing in bixth, and pained to be delivered.

3. And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten borns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did caft them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as foon as it was born.

5. And flebrong beforth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a red of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

6. And the woman fled into the wilderness: where he hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and three score days,

7. And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels. 8. And prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in

beaven.

9. And the great dragon was cast out, that old ferpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was caft out into the carth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10. And I heard a loud voice, faying in heaven, Now is come Salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power

power of his Chrift: for the accufer of our brethren is caft down, which accufedahem before our God day and night.

11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their reftimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12. Therefore rejoice ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Wo to the inhabiters of the earth, and of the fea: for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but afhort time.

13. And when the dragon faw that he was caft unto the earth, he perfecated the woman which brought forth the man child.

14. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that he might flit into the wilderness, into her place; where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the ferpent.

15. And the ferpent caft out of his mouth water as a flood, afzer the woman, that he might cause her to be carryed away of the flood.

16. And the earthhelped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and fwallowed up the flood, which the dragon caft out of his mouth.

17. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her feed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the reftimony of Jefus Chrift.
