3. The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, faying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

4. Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Ifrael, thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and fhalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

5. Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria, the planters fhall plant, andfall eat them as common things.

6. For there fhall be a day that the watchmen upon the mount. Ephraim fhall cry, Arifeye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God.

7. For thus faith the Lord, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and fhout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, fave thy people, the remnant of Ifrael.

8. Behold I will bring them from the north-countrey, and gather them from the coafts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child, and her that travaileth with child together, a great company shall return thither.

9. They shall come with weeping, and with fupplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a Straight way wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Ifrael, and Ephraim is my first-born.

10. Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the ifles afar off, and fay, He that fcattered Ifrael will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd doth his flock.

11. For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ranfomed him from the hand of him that was ftronger then he.

12. Therefore they shall come and fing in the height of Zion, and fball flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oyl, and for the young of the flock, and of the herd: and their foul fhall be as a watered garden, and they shall not forrow

any more at all.

13. Then fball the virgin rejoyce in the dance, both young men and eld together: for I will turn thy mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoyce from their forrow.

14. And I will fatiate the foul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be fatisfied with my goodness, faith the Lord.

tation and bitter weeping: Rachel weeping for her children, refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

16. Thus faith the Lord, Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work fhall be rewarded, faith the Lord, and they fall come again from the land of the enemy.

17. And there is hope in the end, faith the Lord, that thy children ball come again to their own border.

21. Set thee up way-marks, make thee high heaps : fet thine heart toward the high-way, even the way which thou wentcft: turn again, O virgin of Ifrael, turn again to thefe cities.

23. Thus faith the Lord of hosts the God of Ifrael, As yet they Shall use this speech in the land of Judah, and in the cities thereof, when I fhall bring again their captivity, The Lord bless thee, O ha bitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

24. And there fall dwell in Judah it self, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

27. Behold the days come, faith the Lord, that I will fow the houfe of Ifrael, and the house of Judah with the feed of man, and with the feed of beast.

35. Thus faith the Lord, which giveth the fun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof rore; the Lord of hosts is his name.

36. If thofe ordinances depart from before me, faith the Lord, then the feed of Ifrael also shall cease from being a nation before me. 37. Thus faith the Lord, if heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also caft off all the feed of Ifrael, for all that they have done, faith the Lord.

CHAP. Xxxiij. 1-7.19.-26.

"Oreover, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the fecond time, (while he was yet shut up in the court of the prifon,)

2. Thus faith the Lord, the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it, the Lord is his name,

3. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and fhew thee great and mighty things, which thou knoweft nos.

4. For thus faith the Lord, the God of Ifrael,concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the fward.

5. They come to fight with the Chaldeans,but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men whom I have flain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I bave hid my face from this city.

6. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

And I will cause the captivity of Judah, and the captivity of Ifrael to return, and I will build them as at the firft.

19. And the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, saying, 20. Thus faith the Lord, If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their feafon:

21. Then may also my covenant be broken with David my fervant, that he should not have a fon to reign upon his throne, and with the Levites the priests, my minifters,

22. As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the fand of the fea measured: fo will I multiply the feed of David my fervant, and the Levites that minifter unto me.

23. Moreover, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah Saying,

24. Confidereft thou not what this people have spoken saying, The two families which the Lord hath chofen, he hath even caft them off? thus they have defpifed my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

25. Thus faith the Lord,If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth:

26. Then will I cast away the feed of Jacob, and David my fervant, fo that I will not take any of his feed to be rulers over the feed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will caufe their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

27. But fear not thou,O my fervant Jacob, and be not dismayed, OIfrael; for behold, I will fave thee from afar off, and thy feed

from the land of their captivity, and Jacob shall return, and be in reft, and at cafe, and none fall make him afraid.

28. Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, faith the Lord, for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee, but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure, yet will I not leave thee wholly un punifbed.

EZEKIEL XX. 33-44.

33. As I live, faith the Lord God, furely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with a fury poured out, will I rule over you.

34. And I will bring you out from the people, and I will gather you out of the countreys wherein ye are fcattered, with a mighty hand, and with aftretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35. And I will bring you into the Wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36. Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, fo I will plead with you, faith the Lord God.

37. And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

38. And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that tranfgrefs against me; I will bring them forth out of the counwhere they fojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Ifrael, and yefball know that I am the Lord:

39. As for you, O house of Ifrael, thus faith the Lord God, Go ye, serve ye every one his Idols, and hereafter alfo, if ye will not "hearken unto me:" but pollute ye my holy name no more with gifts, and with your Idols.

40. For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Ifrael, faith the Lord God, there fhall all the house of Ifrael, all of them in the land ferve me: there will I accept them, and there will Irequire your offerings, and the first-fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

41. I will accept you with your favour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countreys wherein ye Scattered, and I will be fanctified in you before the heathen.

43. And there hall ye remember your ways, and all your doings wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall loth your felves in your own fight, for all your evils that ye have committed.

44. And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have wrought with you for my names fake, not according to your wicked ways, nar according to your corrupt doings, O houfe of Ifrael, faith the Lord

God.

CHAP. Xxviij. 24.25.26.

24. And there fhall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Ifrael, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them that defpifed them, and they shall know that I am the Lord God.

25. Thus faith the Lord God, When I fhall have gathered the houfe of Ifrael from the people among whom they are fcattered, and hall be fanctified in them in the fight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my fervant Jacob.

26. And they shall dwell fafely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards: yea, they shall dwell with confidence when I bave executed judgments upon all those that defpife them round about them, and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.

CHAP.. XXXiv. 20.-31.

20. Therefore thus faith the Lord God unto them, Behold, I, even I will judge between the fat cattle, and between the lean cat

21. Because ye have thrust with fide, and with shoulder, and pufbt all the difeafed with your horns, till ye have scattered them a❤ broad.

22. Therefore will I fave my flock, and they shall no more. be a prey, and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

23. And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he fallfeed them, even my fervant David; he shall feed them, and. he fhall be their shepherd.

24. And I the Lord will be their God and my fervant. David a prince among them, I the Lord have spoken it.
