His watchful care we have,
His mercies large and free-
They like the ocean spread abroad,
Ah, yes, they flow to me.

And what is still more rich,
His only son did die,

For to redeem our souls from death;
His name we'll glorify.

HOPES OF HEAVEN.

[In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.-John 14: 2, 3, 4. After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshiped God. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shabad them unto living fountains of water and God

all tears from their eyes.-Rev. 7: 9, 10

My tongue shall speak thy praises here,
While life and strength are given;
And when I cease to sing below,
I hope to sing in heaven.

When with the patriarchs I join,
To praise my God above,
My harp will still in tune be found
To sing redeeming love.

The flaming harpers there will sing,
And harps of gold are given,
While praises to our God resound
Through all the vaults of heaven.

Those happy millions I shall join,
And bow before the throne;
The bliss that doth my soul enwrap,
Transcendant joy shall know.

Though I am fettered here below,
My soul delights to dwell
On that blest land where joy abounds,
And heavenly anthems swell.

In meditation I delight,

When God my soul assists,
To dwell on that bright world above
Where reigns eternal bliss.

Then beams of glory from the Son, Forever will unfold; madedeeming love I there shall sing,

A theme which ne'er grows old.

[graphic]

Now to the Father and the Son,
I will my homage pay;
Although I do rejoice below,
From them I would not stay.

SATURDAY EVENING.

The week is past and gone,
Ne'er to return again;

And we a strict account must give,
To God the Judge of men.

Have we not wandered from

The God we vowed to love? Have we not broke his blest command, And grieved the Holy Dove?

Oh, let us ever feel

His eye doth us behold,
And every motion he doth scan,
Our deepest thoughts unfold.

O keep us safe this night,

Secure from every sin:

While angels guard around our beds, The Sabbath usher in.

Lord give us faith to pray,

O send thy spirit down!

And when the toils of life are o'er
Grant us a heavenly crown!

[graphic]

A few more weeks will pass,
My spirit then will fly;
Eternal Sabbath then I'll spend,
Forever in the sky.

THE SABBATH.

[Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.-Ex. 20:8.J

Help me to spend this Sabbath day

As I shall wish I'd done,

When from this world I'm called to go,
My soul is summoned home.

Thy Holy Spirit oft I've grieved,
And wounded thee afresh;
Unholy thoughts have often rose,
And drove me from thy breast.

I fain would spend this Sabbath day
In service of my King,
For he doth grant a rich reward
And pays in holy things.

A crown of glory he will give,
A robe of righteousness,
And conquering palins of glory bright,
And feasts of holiness.

Oh, how can I be slothful here,

While I sojourn below?
be faithful to my God,
Inought but Jesus know.

My strength is perfect weakness Lord,
My wisdom folly proves;

I want no help but thee, my God,
I trust in thee alone.

PROFESSION.

[Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no on with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their iamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh: go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lumps.-Matthew 25: 1 to 7.

Almighty God! I pray appear,
And turu my heart from sin ;
And make me cease to break thy law,
And live to thee again.

Let not profession prove a curse,
To my poor sinking soul;
Make me to feel my nothingness,
And trust in thee above.

Disperse the clouds of sin I pray,
And let thy work revive;

O melt my stony heart to flesh,
Make dying graces live.
