sojourn here on earth? The Scribes and Pharisees passed Him by with contempt and scorn; the 66 common people heard him gladly."

Let, then, our lesson for this Monday of our Holy Week, be a warning against the falseness and the pride, which shut out love to Jesus from us, in our social life. Let us go away out of our vanities and follies, out of our foolish pride of intellect and vain imaginings of our own knowledge and wisdom, and, with bent heads and hearts lifted in simple childlike love and praise, go forth to meet the Lord, Who comes in "garments dyed with blood," to ask us in our solitude if we really love Him more than all the privileges, and advancements, and pleasures, we have left behind us. It will indeed be well for us if we can answer, "Lord, Thou knowest, Thou knowest, that I love Thee."

Not only on the lonely shore, not only

in our solitary communion with our Lord, but in the world where He has placed us, we must show our love to Him, or He will none of it.

We must "confess Him before men," or before angels and men at the last day, His sorrowful sentence will be, "I know you not."

"In all their afflictions He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them."

"Thou, O Lord, art our Father, our Redeemer; Thy Name is from everlasting."

"Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God."-ISAIAH 1. 10.

“And He went down to Nazareth, and was subject unto them."-LUKE ii. 51.

IN our home life, our love to Jesus may surely be fostered as with the dew of heaven, and grow and wax warmer, and more earnest, day by day, as a plant growing in a genial and tender soil, for is not the word "home" the realization to us of all that is most beautiful, most sacred, most lovely in this our earth ?
