in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship Him."

Again, the heart that is full of love to Jesus cannot be silent in His praises; hymns of thankful adoration will ever be making melody there. If we are not thankful and grateful to Him Who has done such great things for us, we cannot love Him as we ought. We are never tired of dwelling on the virtues and merits of those dear to us on the earth; we love to think of them-to go over and over again in our minds all the kind, tender, loving things they have done for us. We think of all their goodness, and we long to be able to do something to show our gratitude to them. We love to speak in their praise, and we delight in getting away alone, to think of them and to long for their presence with us. Such, but in a far higher degree, should be our feeling of thankfulness and praise to the Saviour.

If we truly love Him, we must rejoice in Him and praise Him with pure and devoted hearts.

Then will He consecrate our inner spiritual life to Himself, by coming to us and "making His abode" with us. He will strengthen and refresh that life by His Presence with us in the Blessed Sacrament, which He gave to be the Food and Sustenance of our souls.

There are good and earnest people in the world who talk about spiritual religion as a thing apart from, if not antagonistic to, ceremonial religion. Now, I think our Epistle for to-day teaches us that "holy places made with hands" are "the figures of the true," and that as before Christ came, the strict ceremonies and constant sacrifices of the Jewish religion were absolutely necessary to salvation, so now that He is gone into "heaven itself to appear in the presence of God for us," we must carefully observe and obey His

commandments, and duly keep the ordinances of the Church which He instituted.

Where true fervent love to Him dwells deep in our inner life, it will appear in our outward walk and conversation; if with our hearts we adore Him, with our bodies we must worship Him. It is, therefore, idle to separate the two, to say 'God is a spirit,' therefore to pray to Him in our hearts in secret is better than to join in the ceremonies of His Temple. to His Temple without the

spirit, we are not worthy to be there, nor is our worship pleasing in His sight; but the soul that loves Him will think nothing too grand or too beautiful to express that love. It will look upon the earthly temple as a "figure of the true" one above, "where Christ sitteth at the right Hand of God;" it will love the Ritual and the music there, as representing ever so feebly, the unceasing

service and adoration of the Saints and Angels round the Throne; it will rise above all the little trials and troubles of earth, losing sight of itself, its sins, its sorrows, its temptations, its falls and so, borne on the wings of love, it will soar above the clouds of earth, "watching and waiting for the Lord."

"Unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
