O, EVERY ONE that thirsteth, come Ye to

“the Waters; and he that hath no Money, come ye, buy and eat; come, buy Wine and Milk with out Money and without Price. (Ifai. lv.)

2. “ Wherefore do Ye spend your Money for that " which is not Bread ? and your Labor for that which " satisfieth not ? hearken diligently unto me, and eat Ye * that which is good, and let your Soul delight itself in « Fatness. 3

" Incline your Ear, and come unto me; hear and your Soul fhall live, and I will make an everlasting Co. venant with you, even the fure Mercies of David,

4.“ Behold, I have given him for a Witness to the « Peaple, a Leader and Commander to the People. 5.

Behold, thou shalt call a Nation that thou knowo 6 eft not, and Nations that knew not thee shall run unto " thee, because of the Lord thy God, and for the holy « One of frasl; for He hath glorified thee."

6. Seek Ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near.

7. Let the wicked forsake his Way, and the unrighteous Man his Thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have. Mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

8. “ For my Thoughts are not as your Thoughts, nei“ ther are your Ways my Ways,” saith the Lord.

9. “ For as the Heavens are higher than the Earth, la “ are my Ways higher than your Ways, and my Thoughts " than your thoughts.

- For as the Rain cometh down, and the Snow from • Heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the • Earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give Seed to the Sower, and Bread to the Eater:

“ So shall my Word be, that goeth forth out of my " Mouth; it fhall not return unto me void, but it shall aça " complih that which I please, and it shall prosper in the * Thing whereto I fent it."

12. For Ye shall go out with Joy, and be led forth with Peace; the Mountains and the Hills shall break forth before you into Singing, and all the Trees of the Field shall clap their Hands.

13. Instead of the Thorn shall come up the Fir tree, and instead of the Briar shall come up the Myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a Name, for an everlasting Sign that shall not be cut off.'

14. BLESSED BE The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant Mercy, hath begotten Us again unto a lively Hope, by the Resurrection of Jesus Chrift from the Dead; (1 Pet. i. 3.)

15. To an Inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for us; that the Trial of your Faith might be found unto Praise and Honor and Glory, at the Appearing of Jesus Christ ;

16. Whom having not seen we love, in Whom though now we see him not, yet believing, we rejoice with Joy unspeakable and full of Glory.

17. To Him be Glory and Dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (ib. v. 10.)

printed, a posthumous Esay of the late learned Dr, TAYLOR hath been read, (entitled, The Scripture Account of PRAYER, in Opposition to all Liturgies or precomposed Forms of Prayer,) of which it may sufice here to remark, that the Reasoning, in the first Part of it, doth not attend duly to the real State and Condition of Human Nature, i. e. of the Hearers or People, in worshipping Allemblies; nor distinguish sufficiently between Social and Private Prayer, on which the substantial Arguments in the Preface to this Work are founded: And the latter Part of the Dr.'s Book is an imperfeet Address to the Pasions and Prejudices, rather than to the Reason and Judgement, of his Friends and Readers : The whole therefore proves Nothing to invalidate the present Attempt, which should not have made it's Appearance, had the Author (whose fole Aim herein is Improvement and Edification in Public Worship, thereby more sirongly to impress the genuine distinguishing Doctrines and Spirit of CHRISTIANITY on every Worshipper,) been convinced of the Inutility or Inexpediency of a LITURGY for all Christian Churches and Societies, by any Arguments bitherto offered against it; and He begs
