them that love thee;" and that "our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Fix, O God, these considerations in my mind, and let them sink deep into my heart; let me remember that I must die (thou only knowest how soon, or how late), and ap pear before the judgment seat of Christ." O that I may ever be serious and circumspect in a matter of so great importance to my everlasting interests! When, therefore, thou shalt be pleased to call me out of this world, let me depart in peace, without pain of body or agony of mind, without sorrow and fear, and have "a desire to be with Christ, which is far better." Grant this, O merciful and eternal God, for his sake, and through his merits and intercession; in whose prevailing name and words, I farther pray unto thee, saying, Our Father, &c. The grace of our Lord, &c. AMEN. Saturday Morning. O LORD, I thank thee for preserving me the past night, and bringing me to the light and comfort of another day. Pour down upon me the abundance of mercy; forgiving me those things where conscience is afraid, and giving e good things which I am not on of thy Holy Spirit, to keep sted- and y, and always to abound in the work of righteousness. Let me continue in the practice of piety and holiness, and be a sincere and humble Christian unto my life's end. Strengthen my resolutions, O blessed Lord, to embrace every opportunity of doing good; and make me diligent, honest, and persevering in all the duties of my station. Fix my thoughts, my hopes, and desires upon that eternal world to which I am daily and hourly hastening; and let not the dazzling pleasures and gay amusements of this short and eventful life, tempt me to the commission of any known sin, or in any way to err wilfully from thy commandments.
