"Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as doves to their windows?" Behold they come from far, from the north, and from the west, and from the land of Sinim.*

This flying multitude are the outcasts of Ephraim -these doves are, I believe, the ten lost tribes of ancient Jacob-to whom the King will say "fear not, for I have redeemed thee, thou art mine. I am the Lord, your Holy one, the creator of Israel your King," "and ye are my witnesses saith the Lord, that I am God."

O, the joyful cement of the two tribest (long since broken apart, and withered too, but now green again) in the Eternal Prophet's hand. Ephraim and Judah are united in love forever, bound together by the strong bonds of the everlasting covenant Jehovah made with their fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, even the oath and confirmation of the Lord.

Now Israel is indeed saved in the Lord with an everlasting Salvation. No weapon formed against them shall prosper, every tongue that riseth against them in judgment, they shall condemn; for "God hath spoken, and who shall disannul it, ye shall be my people for ever, and I will be your God."

After the lapse of a thousand years ["each day for a year'] of peace and joy, the tempter shall be loosed from his prison, and rouse the envy of Gentile nations again, but it shall not avail-they may march across the breadth of the earth, and compass the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city, yea, they may ascend and come like a storm, but Israel shall not be hurt-for "God is not a man that he should lie, neither shall the son of man repent;"

hath he said, and shall he not do it? hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Through the long Millennial or Jubilee year, "He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: The Lord his God is with him; and the shout of a King is among them." "Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel," according to this time (is when the prophecy is completely fulfilled) shall it be said of Jacob and of Israel, (meaning the first and the second deliverance) "what hath God wrought? For Gog and his strong bands are destroyed by fire from Heaven.*

Then may the Gentiles who escape the last snare, exclaim,

"How Goodly are thy tabernacles, O Israel!

"As the valleys are they spread forth,

"As garden's by the river side:

"As the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted,
"And as cedar trees beside the waters!"

I have gratified my sincere and ardent feelings that I believe are consistent with Scripture, in painting this great and lovely feature of MillenniumNo true believer in the Holy Scriptures will be disgusted. All who love God, will love his elect.

My views of the generation among the Gentiles that shall be upon earth at the opening of the Millennium, will now be anticipated, and perhaps are in demand with my readers. Here I intend to be candid and explicit. I cannot, I dare not, neither will I trim my way to seek love. The praise of men or women of this generation is of no more consequence to me, than the song of mirth to a famished

beggar. It can do nothing for me. Their censures are no more than a puff of smoke.

But to the subject-And previous to my giving my views of the Gentiles at the opening of the Millennium (which word I shall drop now, and use direct scriptural phrases, such as "the acceptable year of the Lord," and "the day of the Lord,") I must take some notice of their state previous to the opening of that day. By the opening of day, we mean its dawn, which precedes the rising of the sun.

The Gentiles (or descendants of Japheth) are spoken of literally, as distinct from the Jews, to the end of time. God himself hath settled the distinction. It is outward. Let the outward stand as God hath placed it. It is not for finite beings to remove the bound, or displace the land-mark of the Infinite Three One! In spiritual concerns God makes no difference, as "our beloved brother Paul' also says-The salvation of a Gentile soul, his redemption from the course of the law, is on par with the Jews. But the outward dispensations of Almighty God, towards Jews and Gentiles are different, and will be so, till the last, and univeral judgment of all intelligent, created beings, is come. It is vain to contend with the decrees of God. The contention is unequal. Created beings must not strive with the Creator. "My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure," saith the Lord. He spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. The counsel (i. e. purpose, decree, word,) of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations." Therefore, [now let us follow the Scripture] "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." He hath "chosen

Jacob for himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure." "Israel is the rod of his inheritance.”

To the descendants of Abraham by Isaac, and Jacob, Jehovah committed the dispensation of his law. To the descendants of Abraham among all nations, is extended the dispensation of a more perfect work, even the glorious gospel of Christ. The rejection of the latter, by his first covenant people, obliged their covenant-keeping God to punish his covenant-breaking church; and in looking on the natural branches broken off from their divine stock, let Gentiles remember Paul's words (as they pretend to take that apostle for an oracle to prove that the gospel of Christ is efficiently an outward dispensation, that exalts the Gentiles outwardly, to an outward equality with God's outward nation,) let them, I say, remember Paul's words, addressed to them, in the eleventh chapter of his epistle to the church at Rome.

"I speak to you Gentiles (thus Paul) inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office (I glory in it) if the root be holy, so are the branches: if some of them be broken off, and thou being a wild olive tree were grafted in amongst them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; boast not against the branches. Let not the Gentiles dare to say "they were broken off that I might be graffed in"-the apostle then declares that "they were broken off because of unbelief; and announces to the Gentiles that their standing is by faith. Now hear Paul, "Be not high-minded but fear; for if God spared not the natural branches, take heed, lest he also spare not thee. Behold, therefore, the goodness and severity of God on them, which fell severity, but towards thee goodness, if thou continue in his goodness; if

NOT, THOU, also, SHALL BE CUT OFF! And they, also, if they bide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in; for God is able to graft them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the wild olive tree, which is wild by nature, and wert graffed (contrary to nature) into a good olive tree; how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into THEIR OWN olive tree?"

I come now to a very commanding text, whereon I shall place my seal to the testimony

"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of the mystery, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."

1. The word "Israel." 2. Blindness. 3. Gentiles. 4. Fulness. I see the apostle's distinction between the descendants of Shem, and the descendants of Japheth. I understand that blindness is happened to the former, until the fulness of the latter is come in. The blindness is judicial, and for a certain time. "Ye shall not see me," (cried the blessed One) until ye shall say, "blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."

And what is the fulness of the Gentiles?—I shall answer this question in the words of my Lord and Master, as recorded by Luke 21. 24. "The times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." What is the definite meaning of fulfilled? It is "finished." Now I can come at my subject, viz: the state of the Gentiles previous to, and at the time, when the day of the Lord is opened.

1. It appears they are elected for a certain time. 2. During their times, Israel is cast out.

The primitive messengers of a risen Saviour were commanded to teach all nations; for he had by the grace of God died for all, Barbarian, Scythian, bond
