death of the cross. I believe every word that is written concerning the humiliation of JESUS Christ, as voluntary, both in taking upon Himself human nature, and submitting to degradation such as was never imposed upon any human being upon earth, while He was pure in body and soul, as Adam in his primitive state was "the image of GOD," and a living soul. On this ground my soul can rest her hope in the efficacy of the blood which He shed for the remission of sins, knowing that it was pure from human infirmity, though it flowed in human veins, and was Life and is Life, and shall be Life to every soul, and in every soul that truly believes in JESUS, that He is the Christ, and that He purchased the church of GOD, with His own honorable blood, by which I am justified, and shall be saved from wrath through Him; for He rose from the dead, therefore being reconciled by His death, I shall be saved by His life. I write these things to show the manner of my hope in the mercy of GoD, who accepts (in His beloved Son) my soul for the sake of that precious blood, which is called the blood of the Lamb of God, and is originally "the blood of GoD," being holy blood, and flowed in sacred veins, only for heavenly purposes, and especially for a sacrificial ordinance to GOD. My honored friends of the house of Israel are hereby informed, that this precious blood has been my confidence for nearly twenty-seven years of my mortal life in sickness, and in prospect of death, my only refuge and trust. By it I have passed through evil report, and by it obtained victory over the fear of wicked men, of satan, and of death. My triumphant song in my old age, is this Blood:

"JESUS' blood thro' earth and skies,

Mercy, free, boundless mercy cries."

"This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you," in the place of sacrifices that were laid upon your ancient altar, when the blood of beasts was sprinkled upon the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry of your holy Law. By that sacred ritual "almost all things were purged with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission." It was therefore necessary that the patterns of heavenly things should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of GOD for Israel; and Him hath God exalted at His own right hand a Prince and a Saviour, to give you repentance and forgiveness of sins. He hath entered into the holy of holies, by His own blood, and there will plead your cause with God, in His glorified person, till the times of restitution arrive, when Jerusalem shall be cleansed, and the tabernacle of David be built again, according to the word of GOD. In that day, the Lord JESUS Christ will come out of the heavens, and descend upon a cloud, even in the chariot of GOD. His sacred feet, once weary, and nailed to the cross, shall stand upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east; and beneath their weight of glory, (His own, and His Father's, and the holy angels,) that mountain shall fall, and the valley of decision be enlarged, so as to become the place of judgment for Christ to sit and judge all the Gentiles that have oppressed Israel and parted

His land. This is my joyful belief. Faith in His blood is my solemn trust. At the foot of His cross I weep, for my sins helped to nail Him there; but His emancipation from the tomb, His ascension to Heaven, His glorious epiphany to judge, and to reign, causes me to triumph in Christ, and say to satan, "O thou enemy, destruction is coming to a perpetual end; for the seed of the woman shall bruise thy head, with His bruised heel, and write victory upon His two-edged sword."

I have thought upon the case of anti-millenarians, who profess to believe in the Lord JESUS Christ, that He fulfilled the law of GOD, paid the penalty for man's offence, by obedience unto death, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will come again to judge the world at the last day. I have queried what kind of faith in these glorious truths, do they profess? Is it the faith of God's elect? Is it the faith once delivered to the saints? Is it the

faith of Abraham, the friend of God? Is it "the faith of JESUS?" Rev. xiv. 12. The fulfilling of the law, I should say, depends on the personal return of JESUS Christ, when He is glorified in His saints, and admired in all them that believe. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth, because He always did the things which God commanded; but He never abolished the law. He took it out of the way, as a burden which neither we nor our fathers were able to bear; (while satan is out of the pit,) and nailed it to His cross: there must it stay, in the strong hold, until the times of restitution arrive; and judgment shall return unto righteousness; for the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. He will

accomplish the object, in His offices of Prophet, Priest, and King, in His character of the Son of Man, and the Word of GOD. He will be glorified as a teacher of the law of God to Moses, to Aaron, to Joshua, Samuel, and all the prophets, in the day when He shall write it in the hearts and in the minds of all the children of Israel: then they will keep His outward ordinances of the law, as we do now the ordinances of the Gospel, in testimony of commemoration; but not in such weakness, for they will not have to fight with one hand and build with the other: satan is bound-Israel is free; and Holiness to the Lord is upon every vessel, in the house of the Lord of hosts. I cannot believe that the law of GoD is magnified and made honorable, until it is fulfilled in, and kept by the people, to whom it was given in the Name of the Lord, which is JESUS Christ, He being the Holy One of Israel. I believe that he abolished in His flesh the enmity, the curse of the law, and made peace by His cross; but the bringing in of a better hope does not result in the destruction of the law, but on the reverse insures its accomplishment, and this settlement of God's controversy with Judah and Israel, their Blessed Redeemer hath taken upon Himself, which remains to be fully demonstrated in the ages to come. "The secret things belong to the Lord, our GOD, (said Moses to the great assembly) but those revealed, unto us and our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." Is not the Revelation made of the things that pertain to the kingdom of Christ and of God, by the word of the Lord to Ezekiel, which concerns the revival of ancient

ordinances? I believe it is made, and there is nothing appears so solemn to me, as the passover which shall be kept by the children of Israel, after the glory. They will then say, as the lamb is laid the altar, "Christ our passover was sacrificed

upon for us:

66

He was wounded for our transgressions—"

"He was bruised for our iniquities—"

"The chastisement of our peace was upon Him;

"And with his stripes we are healed."

Surely He hath borne our griefs:

"And carried our sorrows:

"Yet we did esteem Him stricken-
"Smitten of God and afflicted.

"All we like sheep have gone astray,
"And the Lord hath laid upon Him
"The iniquity of us all."

"He was oppressed, and He was afflicted,

Yet He opened not His mouth:

"He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter;

"And as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
"So He openeth not His mouth."

“He was taken from prison and from judgment,
"And who shall declare His generation?

"He shall see of the travail of His soul

"And shall be satisfied."

It is well for us to remember, that the feast of the passover was kept by order of the Lord, after the children of Israel were circumcised by Joshua as He was commanded by His Great Anti-type to do; and that the scene was a type of their national conversion in the Great day that is approaching, when all the tribes of the Lord shall understand that circumcision is in the Spirit, whose praise is not of men, but of God.

It does appear to me that the weightier matters of the law (which we are under to Christ,) even
