is not mentioned among the hundred and forty-four thousand that are sealed of all the tribes of the children of Israel, as a select company that shall stand with the Lamb upon Mount Zion, and are redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and the Lamb. Manasseh has Dan's place among these sealed servants of God. It is my belief that Dan (in his descendants) was separated from the captured tribes, at the time of the departure of the latter from among the heathen, to journey to a land where mankind had never dwelt, and there is some evidence that the tribe of Dan, is the same at this day with the Tartars. Indeed Tamerlane confidently said that he was descended from Dan. It is remarkable that Moses calls this judgment of Rachel, (not her son, but a son of Jacob,) "a lion's whelp, that shall leap from Bashan," which is "the mount of slander." Israel styled him a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, &c. It appears he will yet do much harm.

Naphtali is compared to a hind let loose in the last days; but in the day of Glory, Moses addresses him as full of the blessing of the Lord.

Now I shall observe, that these two sons of Jacob, with Zilpah's two sons, Gad and Asher (children of Jacob) were not originally heirs to the promise, but are reckoned the children of the flesh, and were only adopted of Israel, of course not essentially Israel; and in this light St. Paul considered them, in his literal estimation of the chosen seed, that should inherit the great glory. Paul was, however, careful in speaking about the remnant according to the election of grace, and refers to the F

sovereignty of God in His disposal of favours, that He will do as He please, so, that it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but God who sheweth mercy. It is a fact that the sons of female servants, are reckoned among the children of Israel, but the sacred name descended from "the Prince of a strong God," to Rachel's beloved son's youngest son, in the birthright blessing of the prevalent Prince, and to the first born also, as brother to the elect heir of that great promise, which was made by the Lord God to Abraham, even that "his seed should become a multitude of nations." I am not at a loss on this subject at all, for Israel is God's elect, and He will not cast away His people which He foreknew. Jacob is chosen also, as the servant of God, who styles Himself their portion, but while He says to Jacob "I will surely assemble all of thee;" we should bear in mind that the rebels will be cast out of the ranks of Israel, as unworthy to inherit the promised land. Thus judgment is set upon the literal house of God. What then shall become of Gospel hardened sinners, who have crucified to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to open shame? What is the prospect of despisers of His Grace in the day of His Glory, or of the despisers of His personal Glory, in the day of His wrath? It appears by the Word of God, that they shall be given over to a strong delusion, "that they all may be damned who believed not the truth," (in the time of their probation) "but had pleasure in unrighteousness." I turn away from this New Testament prophecy of horrible import, and look to the far distant Indians, who have re

ceived the truth in the love of it, that they may be saved from wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of GOD, believing that He hath appointed them to obtain present salvation and future glory, by our Lord JESUS Christ.

O! ye afflicted exiles from Echota-New Echota-that was the city of refuge for the manslayer, in days wherein the Cherokee nation was in spiritual bondage to the law of ceremonies, let me beseech of you to remember and obey the words of our Lord JESUS Christ, who foretold these days, and commands you to lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh: watch therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all the delusions of satan, and the judgments of God, and to stand before the Son of Man, when He sitteth upon the throne of His glory, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. All ye tried chiefs of the Cherokee nation, who gave me the honor of your presence in Congress Hall, when I bore testimony to the dying love of JESUS, (having for my standard, His memorable prayer for the crucifiers of His sacred body, "FATHER, FORGIVE THEM; FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO !!!”) unto you is the word of this salvation sent, lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." “Think not strange of the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing had happened unto you. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon Him; for He careth Be patient brethren unto the coming of

the Lord. Behold the husbandman waiteth for the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh-very nigh. Grudge not one against another brethren, lest ye be condemned: Behold the Judge standeth before the door. He is a terror to evil doers only; but the sacred fear of contrite souls that tremble at His word. Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, believing in Him as the Saviour of sinners, the Redeemer of Israel, the Judge of the world, the King of saints, King of nations, King of Glory. Hitherto He hath preserved you. Remember His mercy is everlasting. Trust in Him therefore at all times, pouring out your supplications before the throne of grace, giving thanks unto the Father by Him; and see that ye faint not; for it is written, "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love HIM." May the Lord of peace, give you peace always, by all "The Lord be with you."

means.

To all the Christian Indians, in all places wheresoever they sojourn in this dark and cloudy day, I desire to send these Tidings. O! ye sheep of the long lost flock of God, ye lambs of JESUS, the Shepherd of Israel, ye tried wanderers from sea to sea, God hath called you to glory and virtue, "whereby are given unto you exceeding great and precious promises, that you may partake of the Divine nature:" yea, He hath called you unto His eternal glory by Christ JESUS, to whom be praises forever, Amen. You are a chosen generation, a peculiar people, a people that shall be presented to the Lord

of Hosts, at Mount Zion. Fear none of those things that may come upon you: Greater is He that is for you, than he that is in the world. He that is for you, is the Prince of Life; and he that is in the world is the prince of darkness. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Love your enemies. Pray without ceasing. Rest in the Lord, wait for Him: watch for His coming as those that watch for the morning. Though the vision tarry; still look for it; for at the end it SHALL speak; and not lie. Remember it was the Lord who declared to Habakuk (when that prophet stood on the watch) that the vision was for " an appointed time.” The Indians are accustomed to a meaning for names, therefore I will notice the signification of Habakuk: it is "Wrestler." He prayed; and God answered. This prophet was cotemporary with Jeremiah. The vision which he saw, was afterward shewn to Daniel; and the latter inquired, "how long," &c, see Daniel 8, 13, and 12, 6. I believe that Daniel asked the question on both occasions; for the reply was addressed to him in the 8th c. and in the 12th he says "I heard, but I understood not; then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?" The Lord upon that inquiry of Daniel, expressly declared that the last reign of wickedness, should be one thousand, two hundred and ninety days; and added, "Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days." The vision of Daniel recorded in the 8th, and the one just mentioned, appears to concern one object, divided into two parts: the event being the
