same that John has written in the eleventh chapter of the Book of the Revelation of JESUS Christ; but the time altered from years, or prophetic days, to the literal term of months, thirty natural days to every month. I believe that Habakuk speaks of the whole vision that concerns judgment upon the holy city; and he was terrified at the sight which he saw; and prayed God in the midst of wrath to remember mercy, in reviving his work. He then describes the glorious epiphany of JESUS Christ. This is the vision for which you must wait, my red brethren, as the literal emancipation of your tribes, from all troubles and distresses of every kind; and it is your privilege now, to live by faith on the Son of God, crying to Him in the language of the prophet Habakuk," Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord, my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die”—as a people-we shall not be quenched as tow: we are as smoking flax; and

"Sooner shall fail sun, moon and world,
"Than Israel be to oblivion hurl'd."

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For yet a little while and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now consider these things, and encourage each other to travel on, by faith and prayer, in the way that is cast up for the ransomed of the Lord, and is called "the way of holiness." JESUS is your Captain-follow Him. He will give you the victory. He alone can help you. He is faithful; " and will save His people as a flock; and they shall be as stones of a crown lifted up as an ensign

upon His land." Alleluia: Salvation, and glory, and power, unto God and the Lamb.

"Our Father, which art in Heaven,

"Hallowed be Thy Name:

Thy Kingdom come:

Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven; "Give us this day our daily bread;

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; "And lead us not into temptation;

"But deliver us from evil;

"For, Thine is the Kingdom,

"And the Power; and the Glory, forever, AMEN."

A NOTE.

"The vision is for an appointed time." Habakuk gives us no numbers. Jeremiah mentions one-but Daniel obtained three: 2, 300; 1, 290; 1, 335. The first I believe, is the whole vision of Jerusalem's humiliation and disgrace. The second denotes the rise of that Power, which to this day is suffered to hold the sacred place in durance vile. The third includes this period, with forty-five added to it. Our waiting eyes should be directed to these Divine Numbers. "Whoso readeth let him understand," said our Blessed Lord, when He adverted to Daniel's vision; and JESUS Christ will not make us responsible for an impossibility-therefore we are to consider the Divine Numbers as way marks, and not stumbling blocks. Let us honestly confess that the temple of the Lord, and His holy city, was made desolate by Nebuchadnezzar; and that 2,300 years must elapse before she shall be cleansed. Our blessed Saviour found the temple a den of thieves; and Jerusalem a persecuting, bloody

city. She is now trodden down of the Gentiles. When do the 2,300 days* expire? Mr. Wolff says, 1847. Blessed be God! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen and

Amen.

HYMNS.

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock :— Psalm lxxx. 1

1.

Exalted Majesty! whose seat

Is shadowed o'er by cherub feet,

And wreathed with wings of gold;
Shine forth, shine forth, thou fairest One,
And lead poor sorrowing Joseph home,
Thy glory to behold.

2.

See where he roams, an outcast now,
In forests, or on mountain's brow,
A spoil and helpless prey;
Oppressed, dejected, and forlorn,
His miseries cry, turn, Saviour turn,
And help us, or we die.

3.

Surely thou wilt not hide thy face
From Israel, thine elect by grace,
To whom thy oath was given;
Thy flock once beautiful and fair,
The object of thy tenderest care,
Whose fathers are in Heaven!

4.

Oh! no-the sacred Word declares,
That sooner sun, and moon, and stars,

Shall cease their course to run,

Than Israel to oblivion go,

Nor be thy people here below,

When Zion's King shall come.

5.

Thou Shepherd gentle, holy, good,
Faith in thy all-atoning blood,
Inspires ceaseless prayer;

That thou wilt lead in forests wild,
Thy servant Jacob's favorite child,
And shield him with thy care.

6.

Divided into tribes and bands,
Beyond the wall of Canaan's lands,
How sad the outcast's state;
Their language broken, lost, confused,
By every nation sore abused,

Ah! sad, severe their fate.

7.

O! shine! thou Shepherd, quickly shine,
Thou Star from Jacob, all Divine,
Dispel the clouds of grief,
That cluster round thy weary flock,
Remember Joseph's ancient stock,
And come for his relief.

8.

Convert from sin, and save from woe,
The Osage, Chocktaw, Creek and Crow,
The Kickapoo and Caw;
Mandan, Quapaw, and Shawahnee,
The Delaware, the Cherokee,

O! teach them all thy law!

9.

And O! let Gilead's holy Son,
As thy forerunner quickly come,
The harbinger of peace,
Descending in his fiery car,

Cut through the vast expanse of air,
And water Gideon's fleece.

10.

Faith has the answer, and her flight,
To western climes is free and light,
