"His breath kindleth coals,

"And a flame goeth out of his mouth.

"In his neck remaineth strength,

"And sorrow is turned into joy before him. (See Rev. 11. 10.) · "His heart is as firm as a stone

"As hard as a piece of the nether mill stone.

"When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid;

"By reason of breakings they purify themselves:

"The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold;

"The spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

"He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. "The arrow cannot make him flee,

"Sling stones are turned with him into stubble.

"Darts are counted as stubble

"He laugheth at the shaking of the spear.

"Sharp stones are under him—

"He spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. "He maketh the deep to boil like a pot,

"He maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

"He maketh a path to shine after him,

"One would think the deep to be hoary.

"Upon earth there is not his like, "Who is made without fear

"He beholdeth all high things.

"He is a king over all the children of pride."

The last verse is a full disclosure of the testimony, that in the parable of Leviathan, is described the literal piercing serpent, even the personal opponent of Christ, when the latter comes out of heaven, with His army, to avenge the holy covenant; and to destroy all the works of the devil.

"The mighty" (see 25 verse of the 41 c. Job) who purify themselves through fear, because of the wonderful power, signs, &c. of anti Christ, I think are the Jews. They will exhibit great riches after their return home to their own land.

The vile person described by Daniel the prophet in the eleventh chapter of his Book of visions, is certainly the same character as Paul represents the man of sin; and John, the writer of the Book of the Apocalypse of JESUS Christ, calls the Beast from the bottomless pit, whose first rise was out of the sea. By Isaiah, anti Christ is called The Assyrian;

and by Jeremiah, the King of Sheshaeh.-By Ezekiel, the Prince of Tyrus; and the latter compares with Leviathan in the book of Job.

It appears that resistance against anti Christ is altogether vain, from the beginning of his short reign, till the time of the end," even the end of the indignation against Jerusalem, which is the elect city of the Great King, the Righteous One. The Holy Scriptures fully declare that anti Christ will prosper till the vision of Glory is about to open on the Beloved City; and its last great siege brings Emmanuel in person, to "fight for Mount Zion, and for the hill thereof." See Isaiah 31. 4, 5. Micah 5 c. Zechariah 14. 3, 4.

As it is stated by Paul, that apostacy from the truth is followed up by the rise of "That man of sin, who is the son of perdition," we may be certain that the spiritual reign of satan is preparative to the literal; and there can be no danger of mistake in saying, that "spiritual wickedness" overthrows Christianity, and introduces the literal. Every man has a probation; and is called by the Spirit of God, to come to Christ, and be saved. The devil tempts, the world allures, the natural heart, (man's own sin,) entices the soul away from Christ. Man grieves, vexes, and quenches the strivings of the Holy Spirit; and GoD gives him over to a hard heart, and a reprobate mind, so that he is held in unbelief, by the cords of his own sins, becoming satan's willing slave, and helpless prey. Resistance of the Spirit of truth could not be maintained in the soul of man, without satan's influence. By the latter our first parents fell. During the lapse of a thousand years, called Millennium, mankind are not able to oppose the Good, because the original of evil is confined in the bottomless pit. But after the 1000 years are expired, "Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth," and does much evil in a little season," see v. 3, Rev. 20 c.; for he gathers an army numerous like the sand of the sea; and is the spiritual leader of that multitude to sudden destruction. It is good to study the twentieth chapter of the Revelations.

If mortal man forgets now (while the Blessed JESUS is on the mercy seat, and waits to be gracious) that a judgment Day is decreed by his Maker, surely he is deceived by satan indeed; for the judgment of the quick is not performed; for the Lord has not assembled the nations before Him as He said, nor sat in the valley of Jehosaphat to curse the Gentiles that have robbed Israel, and parted His land. This is the unhappy case of a majority-a great majority indeed-of men (and boys) at the present day, if the mean dust and ashes, who writes these pages, may be allowed to opine by her Blessed Master's rule, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Matt. 7. 20. Since I have been fully convinced that the personal anti Christ must be an Autocrat of the nineteenth century, Christian Era-and by Mr. Wolff's testimony have understood that the Glory of Israel cleanses His sanctuary in 1847, my observatory powers have not been dormant respecting the character of this generation, which I strictly believe, is the generation of His wrath-viz. "wrath of the Lamb;" and, it need be no matter of surprise, that I should make particular remarks on the sex to which the Beast belongs. Man takes the lead in authority of all kinds-his responsibility, therefore, is very great. Indeed, man is so gifted with influence, that one like Paul the Apostle of the Gentiles, could effect more visible benefit to Christianity, than a host of Phebes, because the latter is a weaker vessel-and Paul teaches that

woman must be in subjection. It is right-I like it much-it is the ordination of my God, because of JESUS Christ-therefore, I must reverence a godly man; but an impious, prayerless, Christ despising man, is, in my estimation, a Beast. At the

present day, I discover that humble piety is exceeding rare among the male sex. I see old men, young men, and boys, thronging the broad way that leads to Armageddon, which is shortly to be

"The battle ground of hell"—

and old women, young women, and girls, are (apparently) trying to find the path that opens on heaven -not all-alas! No-but very many. I do not assert that all of my favoured sex (I say favoured, because the Lord has chosen the weak things) who profess religion, are șincere-I remember Sapphira's case in the primitive Church of the Lamb.-But Judas Iscariot was worse than she-I am ready to allow that many of my sex who appear devout, may be destitute of the spirit of Mary, who sat at JESUS' feet, and heard His word. Luke 10. 39. Perhaps there are more bustling Marthas, and faint hearted Orpahs coming to the sacramental altar, at the present day, than ever before, since woman was permitted to take a visible share of that holy ordinance. As to Orpah, we know she returned to the land of Moab-and as to Martha, we do not read her name either at the cross or sepulchre. I fear indeed, that many of my sex will apostatise from christianity in the terrible time that is just about to open the short victory of Beastly Man upon the earth. I can describe the female professors, who seem to me likely to fall away. The first or most prominent feature, of doubtful shape, is certainly neglect of JESUS' word. Mary sat at the blessed feet of her adorable Lord, She listened to Him, and she chose Him for

her only portion. All who imitate Mary's humble devotion, are safe in the worst of times; for JESUS (Blessed be his Holy Name) declared, that Mary had chosen the good part "which should not be taken away from her." It is a good thing to read the Bible. It is the way of duty; but we may take the Holy Book in our hands, and read much without benefit, if we get at a distance from the blessed feet. Those women who leave the feet of JESUS, while on probation, will never hold the palm of victory in the Glorious Jubilee of the Holy Lamb. Oh! my sisters, let us beware in time, lest Satan should beguile us away from the simplicity of Christ; for our old adversary, the devil, walketh about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour: him we must resist, stedfast in the faith, listening to JESUS' Word; and put no confidence in the flesh.

Neglect of Jesus' word is detected by our sentiments, and practice. "The present truth," especially regards the literality of the sacred scriptures. All professors of christianity who reject the former are virtually unbelievers of the latter, even the Book itself. It is of no use to daub-it is iniquity to clip the King's coin-Literality is all around it; and to overlook the stamp is sacrilege. JESUS Christ the Lord is that stamp. His glorified body is the object for our adoration; for the same JESUS which was crucified, is glorified; and His very person, is made of GoD, both Lord and Christ. Let female professors take heed how they hear Christ's word.

It

Sectarian influence is dangerous to woman. makes them idolaters. Indeed this is a great evil, and it is silly too. Ah! my sisters, denomination selfishness is sure to draw the soul away from JESUS' feet-it is to trust in vanity-remember that heavenly wisdom is without partiality. I think
