"Overfeers of the poor within every township and place where there are no "churchwardens, fhall from time to time do, perform, and execute all and every the acts, powers, and autho"rities concerning the relief of, and other matters re"lating to the poor as churchwardens and overfeers may "do, &c.".

454 By 9. Geo. 3. c. 37. 1. 7." If any church"warden, or overfeer, or other perfon authorised or intrusted by them to make payments to the relief of the poor, fhall wilfully and knowingly make any fuch payment in bafe or counterfeit money, or in other than "lawful money of Great Britain, he fhall, on conviction, "forfeit a fum not lefs than ten fhillings, nor more thair "twenty fhillings (a).'
