Voices in Unison.

まま

John H. Gower, 1890

The day is gently sink-ing to a close, Fainter and yet more faint the sunlight glows:

O Brightness of Thy Father's glory, Thou, Eternal Light of Light be with us

now:

Unison.

Harmony

Where Thou art present darkness cannot be; Midnight is glorious noon, O Lord, with Thee. Amen.

1 HAIL, gladdening Light, of His pure glory poured,

Who is the immortal Father, heavenly blest,

Holiest of holies-Jesus Christ, our Lord!
Now are we come to the sun's hour of rest;
All times are ordered in Thy word alone,
Therefore the day and night Thy glories own.

2 The lights of evening now around us shine;
We hymn Thy blest humanity divine:
Worthiest art Thou at all times to be sung,

By grateful hearts, with undefiled tongue,
Son of our God, Giver of life, alone!
Therefore shall all the worlds Thy glories own.

Greek, 2d or 3d Cent. Tr. John Keble, 1834

DAY of rest and gladness,
O day of joy and light,

O balm of care and sadness,

Most beautiful, most bright!
On thee the high and lowly,
Through ages joined in tune,
Sing, "Holy, holy, holy!"

To the great God triune.

2 Thou art a port protected From storms that round us rise; A garden intersected

With streams of paradise;

Thou art a cooling fountain

In life's dry, dreary sand;

From thee, like Pisgah's mountain,
We view our promised land.
