Let this immortal hope, and the comforts of thy gracious Spirit, sustain in this their bereavement, the family and friends of our departed brother. Be thou, O God, their refuge, and their consolation, and their sure trust. The more they are brought to perceive that things seen are temporal, so much the more may they find that the things which are unseen are eternal; that thou art faithful, and that Christ is worthy, and that heaven, and not earth, is their home. May they embrace thy promises and be thankful; may they know that thou art God, and be still.

HEAR me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me, and hearken unto my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame, and have such pleasure in vanity, and seek after falsehood?

Know this, that the

Stand in awe, and sin not; commune with your own heart, and in your chamber, and be still.

O LORD my God, in thee have I put my trust; save me from all those who persecute me, and deliver me;

Lest he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is none to help.

O Lord my God, if I have done this thing; or if there be any wickedness in my hands;

If I have rewarded evil unto him who dealt friendly with me; (yea, I have I have delivered delivered him who without any cause is mine enemy ;)

Then let mine enemy persecute my soul, and Let all those who put take it; yea, let him tread


But as for me, I will come into thy house, upon the multitude of thy mercy; and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies; make thy way plain before my face.
