on the left hand, Depart from me ye cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.—[Matthew, 25 : 31-34, 41-46.]

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away, and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead small and great stand before God: and the books were opened, and another book was opened which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.-[Revelation, 20: 11-15.]

The world that then was being overflowed with water perished. But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word are kept in store reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness, but is long suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be, in all holy conversation and godliness. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with

fervent heat? Nevertheless we according to his promise look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore beloved seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him without spot and blameless. And account that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you. Ye therefore beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also being led away by the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace. and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To whom be glory, both now and for ever, amen.-[2 Peter, 3: 6-15, 17, 18.]

Our conversation is in heaven, from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. [Philippians, 3: 20, 21]

But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them who are asleep, that ye sorrow not as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them who are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. [1 Thessalonians, 4: 13-18.

After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude which no man could number of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms

in their hands. And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. These are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.— [Revelation, 7: 9, 10, 15-17.]

A MISSIONARY PRAYER.

Minister. Let us sing to the praise and the glory of God:-" O Spirit &c.":-[pronouncing the two first lines of the following hymn :-or, referring to some other, and pronouncing the two first lines of it.] [All stand.]

1. O Spirit of the living God!

In all thy plenitude of grace,

Where'er the foot of man hath trod,
Descend on our apostate race.

2. Give tongues of fire and hearts of love,
To preach the reconciling word;
Give power and unction from above,
Whene'er the joyful sound is heard.

3. Be darkness, at thy coming, light,
Confusion order in thy path;

Souls without strength inspire with might;
Bid mercy triumph over wrath.

4. O Spirit of the Lord! prepare

All the round earth her God to meet;
Breathe Thou abroad like morning air,
Till hearts of stone begin to beat.

5. Baptize the nations; far and nigh
The triumphs of the cross record;
The name of Jesus glorify,
Till every kindred call Him Lord.
