Neglected CommandmentsDesire earnestly to PROPHESY And do not forbid to SPEAK with TONGUES (1Cor.14:39)) The things which I write to you are The COMMANDMENTS of the Lord (1Cor.14:37b) The Spirit Phenomena of Tongues and Prophesying are Remarkable Vocal Traits among the 5,000 Extant Languages of Planet Earth They form a Unique Spirit Language Culture, That is the Peculiarity of a 600 ] Million Extremely Diverse Global Community It is the closest man comes to experiencing Vox populi, vox Dei ! (Latin: the voice of the people is the voice of God) Unfortunately, they are also two Commandments that the church in her walk, neglects to observe. The book presents the argument that the century old teaching of the Classical Pentecostal view of tongues as the "initial physical evidence" of the baptism with the Holy Spirit, does not "fully" interpret the phenomenon of tongues on the Day of Pentecost, neither does it agree with the utterance of Joel the prophet that "they shall prophesy." Thus, the author makes the case that a believer who receives the Holy Spirit should also "prophesy" as the prophet Joel indicates in his now famous prophetic utterance. The theological principle advanced by the author, is that both oral modes of the Spirit's gift should be in evidence when the Spirit's baptism is experienced. Having served in the Ministry for 40 years as Pastor, Evangelist, Overseer and church planter, with innumerable hours of prayer and bible study, Compton D. Wharton presents his readers with a formidable challenge to revisit and rethink the immediate and initial signs of the seminal prophetic event of the Spirit's outpouring on the Day of Pentecost as described in Acts chapter two.
