A TABLE

TO FIND ANY PSALM, OR PART OF A PSALM, BY THE FIRST LINE.

ALMIGHTY Ruler of the skies
Almighty God, appear and save
Are sinners now so senseless grown
Arise, my gracious God
Amid thy wrath remember love
As pants the hart for cooling streams
A word in season, spoke with pow'r
Are all the foes of Zion fools
Among th' assemblies of the great
And will the God of grace
Among the princes, earthly gods
Again, my tongue thy silence break
Awake, my soul, with fervent praise
Arise, O king of grace, arise

Awake, ye saints, to praise your king
All ye that love the Lord, rejoice

Blest is the man whose bowels move
Behold! O God, what cruel foes
Blest are the souls that hear and know

Behold thy waiting servant, Lord
Blest are the sons of peace
By Babel's stream the captives sate

Children in years and knowledge young
Come, sound his praise abroad

TABLE OF FIRST LINES.

How long, O Lord, shall I complain
How fast their guilt and sorrows rise
How many Ebenezers stand
How pleasing is thy voice
How long, eternal God, how long
How awful is thy chast'ning rod

How pleasant, how divinely fair

Hear what the Lord in vision said

He, that hath made his refuge God

He reigns; the Lord, the Saviour reigns
Hear me, O God, nor hide thy face
Happy is he that fears the Lord

How shall the young secure their hearts
How did my heart rejoice to hear
Had not the Lord, may Israel say

Happy the city, where their sons

[blocks in formation]

In anger, Lord, rebuke me not
I love the volume of thy word

In thee, great God, with songs of praise
I lift my soul to God

[ocr errors]

I will extol thee, Lord, on high
Into thy hand, O God of truth
I waited patient for the Lord
In Judah, God of old was known

It is the Lord our Saviour's hand

I love the Lord; he heard my cries

If God succeed not, all the cost

I'll praise my Maker with my breath
In Zion's sacred gates

Just are thy ways, and true thy word
Jesus, my Lord, doth condescend
Jesus, my Shepherd, lives

Judge me, O Lord, and prove my ways
Judges, who rule the world by laws
Jesus shall reign where'er the sun
Jesus, my God, my all in all

Jehovah reigns: He dwells in light
Joy to the world; the Lord is come

Jesus, our Lord, ascend thy throne
Jesus, the Priest, ascends the throne

Keep me from fainting in my prayers

Lord, thou wilt hear me when I pray
Lord, in the morning thou shalt hear
Lord, what was man, when made at first
Lord, when iniquities abound

Lord, I am thine; but thou wilt prove
Lord, thou hast form'd my soul sincere
Lord, I will bless thee all my days
Lord, we have heard thy works of old
Let Zion in her king rejoice
Lord, I am vile, conceiv'd in sin
Let sinners take their course

Lord, thou hast scourg'd our guilty land
Let God arise in all his might
Lord, when thou didst ascend on high
Let children hear the mighty deeds

Let ev'ry tongue thy mercy speak
Let Zion praise the mighty God
Loud hallelujahs to the Lord

My God, the tempter would persuade
My trust is in my heav'nly friend
My refuge is the God of love

[blocks in formation]

My God, my God, why hast thou left
Mine eyes and my desire

My spirit sinks within me,

My heart rejoices in thy name
My God, the steps of pious men

My God, permit my tongue
My God, my everlasting hope
My Saviour, my Almighty Friend
My never ceasing songs shall show
Mercy and judgment are my song,
My soul, repeat his praise *
My soul, thy great Creator praise
My God, consider my distress
My soul lies cleaving to the dust
My God, what inward grief I feel
My God, while impious men
My God, accept my early vows
My righteous Judge, my gracious God
My God, my King, thy various praise

Now, saith the spirit of the Lord
Now may the God of pow'r and grace
Now let our mournful songs record
Now plead my cause, Almighty God
Now be my heart inspir'd to sing
Now shall my solemn vows be paid
Not to ourselves, who are but dust

O Lord, how many are my foes
O God of grace and righteousness
Lord, our heav'nly King

Our rulers, Lord, with songs of praise
O God of grace, my cry attend
O Lord, thy mercy, my sure hope
O for a shout of sacred joy

O thou, that hear'st when sinners cry
O God, my refuge, hear my cries
O thou, whose justice reigns on high
