Yea, like as a father pitieth his own children : even so is the Lord merciful unto them that fear Him. For He knoweth whereof we are made : He remembereth that we are but dust. The days of man are but as grass : for he flourisheth as a flower of the field. For as soon as the wind goeth over it, it is gone : and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the merciful goodness of the Lord endureth for ever and ever upon them that fear Him : and His righteousness upon children's children; Even upon such as keep His covenant : and think upon His commandments to do them. The Lord hath prepared His seat in heaven : and His kingdom ruleth over all. O praise the Lord, ye angels of His, ye that excel in strength : ye that fulfil His commandment, and hearken unto the voice of His words. O praise the Lord, all ye His hosts : ye servants of His that do His pleasure. O speak good of the Lord, all ye works of His, in all places of His dominion : praise thou the Lord, O my soul. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. MONDAY. PSALM LXI. Exaudi, Deus. EAR my crying, O God : give ear unto my prayer. From the ends of the earth will I call upon Thee : when my heart is in heaviness. O set me up upon the rock that is higher H than I : for Thou hast been my hope, and a strong tower for me against the enemy. I will dwell in Thy tabernacle for ever : and my trust shall be under the covering of Thy wings. For Thou, O Lord, hast heard my desires : and hast given an heritage unto those that fear Thy Name. Thou shalt grant the King a long life : that His years may endure throughout all generations. He shall dwell before God for ever : 0 prepare Thy loving mercy and faithfulness, that they may preserve Him. So will I alway sing praise unto Thy Name : that I may daily perform my vows. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. TUESDAY. PSALM CXLVI. PRAISE the Lord, O my soul; Lauda, anima mea. while I live will I praise the Lord : yea, as long as I have any being, I will sing praises unto my God. O put not your trust in princes, nor in any child of man : for there is no help in them. For when the breath of man goeth forth he shall turn again to his earth : and then all his thoughts perish. Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help : and whose hope is in the Lord his God; Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is : Who keepeth His promise for ever ; Who helpeth them to right that suffer wrong : Who feedeth the hungry. The Lord looseth men out of prison : the Lord giveth sight to the blind. The Lord helpeth them that are fallen : the Lord careth for the righteous. The Lord careth for the strangers; He defendeth the fatherless and widow : as for the way of the ungodly, He turneth it upside down. The Lord thy God, O Sion, shall be King for evermore : and throughout all generations. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. WEDNESDAY. PSALM CXLI. Domine, clamavi. ORD, I call upon Thee, haste Thee unto me : Let my prayer be set forth in Thy sight as the incense : and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening sacrifice. Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth : and keep the door of my lips. 0 let not mine heart be inclined to any evil thing : let me not be occupied in ungodly works with the men that work wickedness, lest I eat of such things as please them. Let the righteous rather smite me friendly : and reprove me. But let not their precious balms break my head : yea, I will pray yet against their wickedness. Let their judges be overthrown in stony places : that they may hear my words, for they are sweet. Our bones lie scattered before the pit : like as when one breaketh and heweth wood upon the earth. But mine eyes look unto Thee, O Lord God : in Thee is my trust, О cast not out my soul. Keep me from the snare that they have laid for me : and from the traps of the wicked doers. Let the ungodly fall into their own nets together : and let me ever escape them. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. THURSDAY. PSALM LXII. M Him , cometh my Nonne Deo? soul truly waiteth still upon God : for of salvation. He verily is my strength and my salvation : He is my defence, so that I shall not greatly fall. How long will ye imagine mischief against every man : ye shall be slain all the sort of you; yea, as a tottering wall shall ye be, and like a broken hedge. Their device is only how to put him out whom God will exalt : their delight is in lies; they give good words with their mouth, but curse with their heart. Nevertheless, my soul, wait thou still upon God : for my hope is in Him. He truly is my strength and my salvation : He is my defence, so that I shall not fall. In God is my health, and my glory : the rock of my might, and in God is my trust. o put your trust in Him alway, ye people : pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our hope. As for the children of men, they are but vanity : the children of men are deceitful upon the weights, they are altogether lighter than vanity itself. 0 trust not in wrong and robbery, give not yourselves unto vanity : if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. God spake once, and twice I have also heard the same : that power belongeth unto God; And that Thou, Lord, art merciful : for Thou rewardest every man according to his work. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. FRIDAY. THE PSALM L. Deus deorum. THE Lord, even the most mighty God, hath spoken : and called the world, from the rising up of the sun, unto the going down thereof. Out of Sion hath God appeared : in perfect beauty. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence : there shall go before Him a consuming fire, and a mighty tempest shall be stirred up round about Him. He shall call the heaven from above : and the earth, that He may judge His people. Gather My saints together unto Me : those that have made a covenant with Me with sacrifice. And the heaven shall declare His righteousness : for God is Judge Himself. Hear, O My people, and I will speak : I Myself will testify against thee, O Israel; for I am God, even thy God. |
