For the Lord God is a light and defence : the Lord will give grace and worship, and no good thing shall He withhold from them that live a godly life.

O Lord God of hosts : blessed is the man that putteth his trust in Thee.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

HEA

MONDAY.
PSALM IV.

Cum invocarem.
EAR me when I call, O God of my righteous-

ness : Thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me, and hearken unto my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye blaspheme mine honour : and have such pleasure in vanity, and seek after leasing ?

Know this also, that the Lord hath chosen to Himself the man that is godly : when I call upon the Lord, He will hear me.

Stand in awe, and sin not : commune with your own heart, and in your chamber, and be still.

Offer the sacrifice of righteousness : and put your trust in the Lord.

There be many that say : Who will show us any good ?

Lord, lift Thou up : the light of Thy countenance upon us.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart : since the time that their corn, and wine, and oil, increased.

I will lay me down in peace, and take my rest : for it is Thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.

TU'ESDAY.
PSALM XXXI.

In te, Domine, sperari.
IN Thee, O Lord, have I put my trust : let

me never be put to confusion, deliver me in Thy righteousness.

Bow down Thine ear to me : make haste to deliver me.

And be Thou my strong rock, and house of defence : that Thou mayest save me.

For Thou art my strong rock, and my castle : be Thou also my guide, and lead me for Thy Name's sake.

Draw me out of the net, that they have laid privily for me : for Thou art my strength.

Into Thy hands I commend my spirit : for Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, thou God of truth.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

WEDNESDAY.

PSALM XCI.

Qui habitat.
HOSO dwelleth under the defence of the

of the Almighty

I will say unto the Lord, Thou art my hope, and my strong hold : my God, in Him will í trust.

For He shall deliver thee from the snare of the hunter : and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall defend thee under His wings, and thou shalt be safe under His feathers : His faithfulness and truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for any terror by night : nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

For the pestilence that walketh in darkness : nor for the sickness that destroyeth in the noonday.

A thousand shall fall beside thee, and ten thousand at thy right hand : but it shall not come nigh thee.

Yea, with thine eyes shalt thou behold : and see the reward of the ungodly.

For Thou, Lord, art my hope : Thou hast set Thine house of defence very high.

There shall no evil happen unto thee : neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For He shall give His angels charge over thee : to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee in their hands : that thou hurt not thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt go upon the lion and adder : the young lion and the dragon shalt thou tread under thy feet.

Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him : I will set him up, because he hath known My Name.

He shall call upon Me, and I will hear him : yea, I am with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and bring him to honour.

With long life will I satisfy him : and show him My salvation.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

THURSDAY.
PSALM CXXXIV.

Ecce nunc.
PEHOLD now, praise the Lord : all ye servants

of the Lord; Ye that by night stand in the house of the Lord : even in the courts of the house of our God.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary : and praise the Lord.

The Lord that made heaven and earth : give thee blessing out of Sion.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

FRIDAY.
PSALM XXXIX.

Dixi, custodiam. SAID, I will take heed to my ways : that I offend not in my tongue. I will keep my mouth as it were with a bridle : while the ungodly is in my sight.

I held my tongue, and spake nothing : I kept silence, yea, even from good words; but it was pain and grief to me.

My heart was hot within me, and while I was thus musing the fire kindled : and at the last I spake with my tongue;

Lord, let me know mine end, and the number of my days : that I may be certified how long I have to live.

Behold, Thou hast made my days as it were a span long : and mine age is even as nothing in respect of Thee; and verily every man living is altogether vanity.

For man walketh in a vain shadow, and disquieteth himself in vain : he heapeth up riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.

And now, Lord, what is my hope : truly my hope is even in Thee.

Deliver me from all mine offences : and make me not a rebuke unto the foolish.

I became dumb, and opened not my mouth : for it was Thy doing.

Take Thy plague away from me : I am even consumed

by the means of Thy heavy hand. When Thou with rebukes dost chasten man for sin, Thou makest his beauty to consume away, like as it were a moth fretting a garment : every man therefore is but vanity. Hear my prayer, O Lord, and

with Thine ears consider my calling : hold not Thy peace at my tears.

For I am a stranger with Thee : and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

O spare me a little, that I may recover my strength : before I go hence, and be no more

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen.

PSALM XXVI.

Judica me, Domine. E E

innocently : my trust hath been also in the Lord, therefore shall I not fall.

Examine me, O Lord, and prove me : try out my reins and my heart.

For Thy loving-kindness is ever before mine eyes : and I will walk in Thy truth.
