MONDAY.

(27)

MY God, Who openest Thy hand and fillest all things living with plenteousness: unto Thee I commit myself: watch over me, I beseech Thee, and provide all things needful for my soul and body, from this time forth for evermore. Amen. (28)

TUESDAY.

LORD, give me that grace that I may hold me

still by Thee and abide patiently upon Thee; that I may not grieve myself at the man whose way doth prosper, nor against him that doeth after evil counsels; that I may leave off from wrath and let go displeasure, lest I fret myself, and be moved to do evil. Amen.

WEDNESDAY.

(29)

LORD, let me be joyful for nothing but that which pleaseth Thee; nor sorrowful for anything but that which doth displease Thee. Let all labour be my delight which is for Thee; and let all rest weary me which is not in Thee. Amen. (30)

devout, a religious, a courageous heart; chaste and temperate thoughts; a soul full of devotion to do Thee service, strength against all temptations, especially ....; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (31)

FRIDAY.

GOD, the Father of lights, from Whom cometh down every good and perfect gift; Mercifully look upon my frailty and infirmity, and grant me

such health of body as Thou knowest to be needful for me; that both in my body and soul I may evermore serve Thee with all my strength and might, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (32)

SATURDAY.

LORD, let me hear Thy loving-kindness be

O Lord, open Thou my lips,

And my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

O God, make speed to save me.

O Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Meditation (to be omitted during the week
before Easter.)

"NOW

OW upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared."-S. Luke xxiv. 1.

Remembering those tender women who brought their early gifts of fragrance to His sepulchre Who ere sunrise rose from death and the grave, bring too, O my soul, at this morning's prime, thine own acceptable offerings to thy Lord, sorrow for thy sins in times past, love and devotion at this time, vows of obedience for time to come. But let no tears of sorrow like Mary's be shed for thy Master; for, as the angel said, "He is not here, for He is risen." The rather rise upwards, my soul, towards His Throne on wings of

gladness, and consecrate the odours of thy morning sacrifice to Him Who giveth light unto the world, Who will accept thy first devotions of this day, and Who can cleanse thee now from every dark spot of sin, as He cleansed thee in the morning of thy life in baptism by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Anthem or Antiphon.

LET my mouth be filled with Thy praise, that I may sing of Thy glory and honour all the day long.-Ps. lxxi. 7.

Then the Morning Psalms for the day of the month, as appointed in the Book of Common Prayer, or the seven Psalms following, or any of them, or one for each day of the week.

SUNDAY.

PSALM XCII.

Bonum est confiteri.

T is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord :

Highest ;

To tell of Thy loving-kindness early in the morning and of Thy truth in the night-season;

Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the lute upon a loud instrument, and upon the harp.

For Thou, Lord, hast made me glad through Thy works and I will rejoice in giving praise for the operations of Thy hands.

O Lord, how glorious are Thy works: Thy thoughts are very deep.

An unwise man doth not well consider this : and a fool doth not understand it.

When the ungodly are green as the grass, and when all the workers of wickedness do flourish :

then shall they be destroyed for ever; but Thou, Lord, art the most Highest for evermore.

For lo, Thine enemies, O Lord, lo, Thine enemies shall perish and all the workers of wickedness shall be destroyed.

But mine horn shall be exalted like the horn of an unicorn: for I am anointed with fresh oil.

Mine eye also shall see his lust of mine enemies : and mine ear shall hear his desire of the wicked that arise up against me.

The righteous shall flourish like a palm-tree : and shall spread abroad like a cedar in Libanus.

Such as are planted in the house of the Lord : shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.

They also shall bring forth more fruit in their age : and shall be fat and well-liking.

That they may show how true the Lord my strength is and that there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

PSALM CXIX.

Beati immaculati.

DLESSED are those that are undefiled in the

BLES

and walk in the law of the Lord.

Blessed are they that keep His testimonies : and seek Him with their whole heart.

For they who do no wickedness: walk in His ways.

Thou hast charged that we shall diligently keep Thy commandments.

O that my ways were made so direct that I might keep Thy statutes!
