PSALM V.-O. V. SUCH as be foolish shall not stand Thou ever hast abhorr'd. I, therefore to Thy house will come, Let all who put their trust in Thee For Thou with favour wilt increase And with Thy grace, as with a shield PSALM VIII. O THOU, to whom all creatures bow Thro' all the world how great art Thou, In heav'n Thy wondrous acts are sung And yet Thou mak'st the infant tongue Through Thee the weak confound the strong And so thou quell'st the wicked throng, O Thou, to whom all creatures bow Thro' all the world how great art Thou, PSALM IX. THE Lord for ever lives, who has God is a constant sure defence As troubles rise, His needful aids In our behalf engage. All those who have His goodness prov'd, Will in his truth confide, Whose mercy ne'er forsook the man That on His help relied. Sing praises therefore to the Lord, From Sion, His abode; Proclaim His deeds till all the world B PSALM XV. WHO is the man that may, O Lord, To Thy blest courts repair, Or to Thy holy place ascend, And still inhabit there? 'Tis he, whose every thought and deed By rules of virtue moves; Whose generous tongue disdains to speak The thing his heart disproves : Who never did a slander forge, The man who by his steady course Has happiness ensur'd, When earth's foundation shakes, shall stand By Providence secur'd. PSALM XVI· I strive each action to approve, Therefore my heart all grief defies, My flesh shall rest, in hope to rise, Thou, Lord, when I resign my breath, Thou shalt the paths of life display, Which to Thy presence lead; Where pleasures dwell without allay, And joys that never fade. |
