About the author (2011)

Simon has been travelling frequently to this region since the early 1990s when he first crashed at Singapore's Majestic Hotel - it was anything but Majestic, and certainly not as New as it is today. The experience didn't put him off, on the contrary he's kept on coming back for repeat infusions of Malaysian and Singaporean culture, landscapes, adventure and, crucially, the fantastic range of food. This is the third time the award-winning travel writer and photographer (catch him at www.simonrichmond.com) has helmed this guide, one of several he writes for Lonely Planet as well as other publishers.
