Duties of a Pastor.

11 These things command and teach. 12 Let c no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14 Neglect d not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, f with the laying on h of the hands of the pres bytery.

15 Meditate upon these things; give thy. self wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear 2 to al..

16 Take heed n unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save q thyself, and them that hear thee.

REBU not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.t

4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew

piety at home, and to requite their pa rents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

6 But she that liveth n pleasure is dead x while she liveth.

7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially a for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

HOU therefore, any son, be a strong Tintherefor that is in Christ Jung

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me 1 among many witnesses, the same commit d thou to faithful men, who shall be able e to teach others also.

3 Thou therefore endure g hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No man that warreth i entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5 And if a man also strive for mas teries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

8 Remember that Jesus Christ, q of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel :

9 Wherein I suffer trouble. as an evildher, even unto bonds; t but the word of God is not bound.

10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

11 It is a faithful saying: For if y we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:

12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny b him, he also will deny us:

is If d we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: hef cannot deny himself.

14 Of these things put g them in re membrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive k not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

15 Study 7 to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly m dividing the word of truth.

16 But shun profane and vain babblings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness:

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: 4 of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus;

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, i saying, u That the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of

some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation w of God standeth 5 sure, having this seal, The Lord y knoweth them that are his. And, Let z every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels c of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

9 But o avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
