Teach me Thy way, O Lord and lead me in the right way, because of mine enemies.

Deliver me not over into the will of mine adversaries for there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as speak wrong.

I should utterly have fainted but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

O tarry thou the Lord's leisure be strong, and He shall comfort thine heart; and put thou thy trust in the Lord.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever

shall be

world without end. Amen.

Daily during the week before Easter.

PSALM LXX.

Deus in adjutorium.

HASTE Thee, O God, to deliver me : make

haste to help me, O Lord.

Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward and put to confusion that wish me evil.

Let them for their reward be soon brought to shame that cry over me, There, there.

But let all those that seek Thee be joyful and glad in Thee and let all such as delight in Thy salvation say alway, The Lord be praised.

As for me, I am poor and in misery Thee unto me, O God.

haste

Thou art my helper, and my redeemer : 0 Lord, make no long tarrying.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

The Lesson.

YIVING all diligence, add to your faith virtue;

Grand to avi tule knowledge, and to knowledge

temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2 Pet. i. 5-7. Or the Lesson appointed in the Table, or some other portion of Holy Scripture.

The Hymn.

THERE is a stream, which issues forth
From God's eternal Throne,

And from the Lamb, a living stream
Clear as the crystal stone.

The stream doth water Paradise;
It makes the angels sing;
One cordial drop revives my heart;
Hence all my joys do spring.

Such joys as are unspeakable,
And full of glory too;

Such hidden manna, hidden pearls,
As worldlings do not know.

Eye hath not seen, nor ear hath heard,
From fancy 'tis concealed,

What Thou, Lord, hast laid up for Thine,
And hast to me revealed.

I see Thy face, I hear Thy voice,
I taste Thy sweetest love;
My soul doth leap: but O for wings,
The wings of Noah's dove!

Then should I flee far hence away,

Leaving this world of sin!

Then should my Lord put forth His hand,
And kindly take me in!

Then should my soul with angels feast
On joys that always last!
Blest be my God, the God of joy,
Who gives me here a taste.

Or this.

YOME, Holy Ghost, who ever One

And now our inmost souls possess
With Thy full flood of holiness.

the Son,

Let flesh, and heart, and lips, and mind,
Sound forth our witness to mankind;
And love light up our mortal frame,
Till others catch the living flame.
Now to the Father, to the Son,
And to the Spirit, Three in One,
Be praise and thanks and glory given,
By men on earth, by Saints in heaven.

The Canticle.

Amen.

SURGE, ILLUMINARE. Isaiah lx.

ARISE, shine, for thy light is come: and the

glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth: and gross darkness the people;

But the Lord shall arise upon thee and His glory shall be seen upon thee.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light :

and kings to the brightness of thy rising. Thy gates shall be open continually

shall not be shut day nor night;

they

And they shall call thee, The city of the Lord :

The Sion of the Holy One of Israel.

Violence shall no more be heard in thy land: wasting nor destruction within thy borders;

But thou shalt call thy walls Salvation: and thy gates Praise.

The sun shall be no more thy light by day :

neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee.

But the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light and thy God thy glory.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Or this Psalm.

PSALM XV.

Domine, quis habitabit?

LORD, who shall dwell in Thy tabernacle: or

who shall rest upon Thy holy hill?

:

Even he, that leadeth an uncorrupt life and doeth the thing which is right, and speaketh the truth from his heart.

He that hath used no deceit in his tongue, nor done evil to his neighbour and hath not slandered his neighbour.

He that setteth not by himself, but is lowly in his own eyes and maketh much of them that fear the Lord.

He that sweareth unto his neighbour, and disappointeth him not though it were to his own hindrance.

He that hath not given his money upon usury: nor taken reward against the innocent.

Whoso doeth these things: shall never fall.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son

to the Holy Ghost;

and

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Here may be said the Apostles' Creed, p. 1; or the Nicene Creed, p. 5.

Lord, hear my prayer.

And let my crying come unto Thee.

Then the Prayers following, or any of them, or one for each day of the week.

SUNDAY.

ETERNAL God, the great Father of spirits,

Holy Spirit upon Thy church in the day of Pentecost, and hast promised that He shall abide with Thy church for ever; Let Thy Holy Spirit lead me into all truth, defend me from all sin, enrich me with His gifts, refresh me with His comforts, rule in my heart for ever, conduct me with His truths, and lead me in the way everlasting, that I, living by Thy Spirit, and walking in Him, may by Him be sealed up to the day of redemption. O let Thy Spirit witness to my spirit that I am the child of God, and make me to be so for ever, through Jesus our Lord; who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the same Spirit one God, world without end. Amen. (61)

Or this.

YRANT, I beseech Thee, Almighty and MerciJful God, that the Holy Ghost may come upon me, and by His gracious indwelling may make me a temple of His glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen. (62)

MONDAY.

LORD my God, Who hast given peace to man, and, sending down the gift of Thy Holy Spirit on Thy disciples and apostles, didst by Thy power open their lips with tongues as of fire; Open also the lips of me a sinner, and teach me how to pray and what I should ask for. Sweet Haven of the storm-tossed, may my life be directed to Thee. Make known to me the way in which I should go. Renew a right spirit within me, and by Thy guiding Comforter confirm my wavering
