Religion alone, gives infallible orthodoxy after all the false pretences of churches What is the statement of ignorant preachers worth, when they are not competent to proper analysis?

You must have all practicable of rational religion, to keep the world, mind, man, nations, right in every respect. Let the whole world be triumphantly upheld by the consciousness of what is right, righteous, and religious, that is the sublimest consummation of all things. Uniform protection, the only practicable and available one can be given, is only given by rational mind, morally as physically, by all the conservative principles of religion.

What is the weak point in Monotheism? There is none. They are all strong, as long as the Universe and the God of that Universe are bound reciprocally by it. If God as God is eternal, the duration of that Universe is eternal. Astronomers will correct their pretended discoveries of extinguished stars. It was their extinguished ideas resting on an extinguished bible. Nothing has been sacred to this thing of peculiar faith, that has made and extinguished stars therefor. The light of rational religion presents the civilized mind without fear or reproach before God.

Death is the effect of sin. What folly and falsehood the peculiar-bible propagates. Will any advocate in his senses, pretend to deny the omnipotent facts of creation, where death results from organization and its inherent laws.

Rational religion, monotheism, is in favor of justice, honor, principles, in the best of good faith, that supersedes all other faith. Religion demands the rightful expulsion of all priestocracy at once, by enlightened public opinion, all the reserved rights of rational religion meet, call for the necessary regulations of the whole world, on the best unity and polity of design, just after God's requisitions and express ordinations.

Religion is that which binds all rational beings to their duty, all to their God of the universe, and that rules out all peculiar-faith and bibles, and their priestocracy. Instead of sending sectarian or peculiar faith missionaries as those of christianity, to proselyte the world to their peculiar education, which is most vicious: Monotheists request that missions be sent to suggest the propriety of the world's getting rid of all peculiar faiths, and seek the most rational, the only religion.

"Whatever is, is right," takes precedence as God's attribute. The universe of God, his creation, whatever he did, is right. Man's actions must be squared by God's principles, to be right. God's creation bespeaks the universe and its conservative principles. Anything short of this, is wrong. Religion defines this position as the only correct one. All man's acts, so far as they conflict in antagonism with God's conservative principles, are wrong, and all his sophistry to uphold it, cannot avail.

"Whatever is, is right," calls for mind to have all in abeyance to this position of the creation, and that mankind's whole life should be one continued state of gratitude and love to God. Monopoly and usurpation seek to invade these premises, and apply them as their property, assume with their base sophistry all to themselves. The universal language of nature, is that of God-all peculiar, is that of man.

Who mistakes death? That is universal language.

Religion accurately defines that of God, not of men, unless they conform to the highest requisitions of rational mind. Deliver us from her half-way defenders.

Religion holds all bibles of peculiar faith in abeyance to its supreme conservative principles, to which all peculiar-faith advocates will have to yield, and they had better do it at first than last. Man has to do right, by the eternal standard of God, the great first cause, who is altogether right. That is the difference between the two. As God is perfect, He cannot be personified through less than his universal attributes. Any peculiar-bible that affects it, caricatures him and constitutes its most blasphemous impeachment.

“Whatever is, is right,” makes religion right. She will give you all that is legitimate on earth, and the best earnest of the future. She will exalt you on principle, and raise you to glory. Hers is the voice of wisdom through the paths of science, and the ways of philosophy. She teaches a world to seek and secure peace and happiness, by unerring means.

The universe must be comprehended by a wise comprehension, ere criticism has claim on intellectual confidence. This world cannot furnish what is a universe problem, therefore monotheism introduces mind into the sublimest hope of immortal existence, to rightly appreciate its loftiest purposes.

RELIGION.

WHAT is the religion of rational mind? That which discloses the true duty of man to God, and puts down all base trading speculation of the world-the counterfeit.

Though the world speaks about religion, its age, and have not principles, all is worthless. Though the world prides itself on faith, and have not truth and reason, faith's masters, it has nothing. To have the right faith, mind must be faithful to truth and reason, and to have the best security for all such, it must have rational education. Religion is for just views. All must be just to the God of the universe, to mind, the whole world and universe. She establishes on the best demonstration, that the only safety is through principles. The bible of rational mind introduces the religion of mind. That begets the deepest humility, and the supreme unbounded confidence in the Creator, as the supremacy of science is from Deity. He who speaks against that, is base and blasphemous. Stubborn bible bigots will suppose that you are to take their bibles to get religion. Nothing short of the Creator will do, and we have only to improve what he has already given. Religion is a pure, perfect principle; when matured, the soul matures and rests there in the bosom of purity. Religion rests on the eternal sublimity of her sincerity and simple purity, abstracted from all the violations of reason. What is more precious than woman's chastity, man's integrity, the world's humanity, mind's religion?

Religion strictly teaches mind to beware of all violations of principles, lust, drunkenness, avarice, and envy, as they produce murder, crimes, adultery, poison, all the misery of mind. How do we get righteousness? By grace and mercy of God. How the profoundest humility? By the deepest confidence in God, who is known by the best analysis that philosophical science discloses, to be so exalted, as to exclude all pretensions of polytheism. The deepest analysis gives the best confidence and humility. What can be said of Messiah righteousness? That it is as heinous as self-righteousness; both are self or priestocracy delusions. The religionist is to seek proper compliance with the requisitions of wise laws to promote sound morals, true duty, and the highest civilization,-to leave the world better than he found it. The mighty question of true religion is kept in abeyance to a union of church and state, the policy of empires, of power despotic in government. Peculiar faiths, their mouth-pieces, misrepresent all the qualities of Deity. Talk of them, when God is surely proved by his creation. Who would presume to libel God by bibles of tradition? We hardly know ourselves, till indisposition or sickness teaches us. Do we know of order, harmony, till we feel disorder, derangement? We are then for law, order, religion, and the Creator of all these. We do not know of organization till we know of disorganization, and we must then appreciate the Almighty Organizer of the universe. The world needs the broadest position of morality and religion, but not out of any peculiar bible, for its writers did not know them at all. The very idea of peculiarity kills all.

All owe a gentlemanly deportment to civilized society, and are under the highest obligation to offend it least by thought, word, or deed. The world must seek to maintain the soundest public opinion, to be universally conservative. Religion is the only thing that suits that, to create the world morals.

Those who have power have no mercy, if they have no principle.

What is religion? We only know some say, as others tell us. What are freemen with cultivated minds, and not know this subject? Have you ever investigated it? No! Why? Because my preacher tells me not! Is your preacher your master? Force of arms or device of sophistry is not the way to settle questions of the world to be civilized. Religion is the supreme wisest intellectual and moral power of the world. By religion alone can mind progress to one uniform standard, as to present virtue as uniform as mind can present it. The world will be better sustained as selfbalanced.

Let us see where religion is, that is the good faith of truth and principle. Are you after religion?

All the wise, true, and good are after nothing else, and that in her purity and excellence. Religion affords supreme protection to all. Religion sees that you are accused, does she teach the doctrine of non-resistance? You are innocent? Then act to the promptings of an honest mind. Face the world and at once invoke, challenge the worst, defy on your position. Innocence can triumph over the world certainly. But do one bad or suspicious act, then you may be suspected for the worst,—as for instance, an adulterer. You will not then be too good to be charged as a poisoner and murderer, especially if the accusers have any hold of you for any such crime. In being an adulterer you become a perjurer. Religion leaves nothing to contingency.

All peculiar faiths are the work of man, but religion is the work of God. Religion exists, yet man affects other faith. He thinks that the bible of tradition has it! The greatest mistake in the world. Well may we say what a mistake; and then base men have taken horrible advantage of it. The fact of correct observation has been needed. Mind must exclusively rely on the justice, greatness, magnanimity, goodness, and all the essential attributes of God.

Man is a creature of social, moral, and religious feelings, of course the gift of his Creator.

To have the right cultivation, we must have proper education,—a true, practicable, rational knowledge of science, &c. Religion sustains the reality, not the romance of virtue, and calls for the tribute of praise and thanksgiving by appropriate benevolence to the destitute, proper deeds to the world. What an enviable fame would the good citizen get, to die aiding the helpless and destitute. Such will strive to succor the distressed, relieve the afflicted, protect the defenceless. Adequate reward will bless the mind that has principles; the curse of those destitute of them will be certain, as principles vindicate themselves.

All have more religion the more civilized,-this is an indisputable axiom; the less civilized the less religion, as the crusaders prove, &c. What more glorious measure can there be for the soul than doing justice to religion on the proper principles of mind? As having a free and intelligent mind in the glorious free agency of God, you have done justice to the investigation of this subject on both sides, as wise persons will not possibly put any bibles otherwise into the hands of their offspring, whose immortal souls have to be cared for in the most rational way. But the minister tells the world that the books that show up Christianity are dangerous. What do parents say? They do not investigate the books, for they are afraid. Afraid of the truth!

But have you avoided the subject? If you have, then are you and they traitors to the right use of mind.

But the world is afraid to oppose the bibles. Mind is crushed by the baseness of superstition. What clashes with preconceived constructions of the bibles, is what clashes with the priestocracy, deeply interested in their corruption; thus we do not recognise that God's construction is elsewhere than in his works.

You declare for such bibles, then you are at issue with God. Religion of mind progresses as mind is civilized. Peculiar faith, of peculiar education, usurps the province of mind, in assuming to dictate about religion. True devotion to God is inculcated by religion of principle. Benevolence inculcates the noblest acts under her auspices.

Religion is the most sacred duty, higher than bibles, creeds, and peculiar faiths, above all art. The God of Nature requires all adoration, worthy of the laws and principles of nature, of the purity of creation.

Mind is obliged to have religion, as nature has laws. The purport of religion is to lessen mind's and the world's misery, and teach the soul of man to look to a better future. The permanent action of religion must certainly revolutionize the ethics of the world.

Religion goes against polytheism, as atheism.

A rational recognition The Creator.

What is the best friend of man? Religion. What is that? of duty to the Creator. Who is the best friend to mankind? Man never can appreciate God all his life-time on this earth. The more he appreciates his works, the more he loves the architect of his own soul for its blessings. None can make idol of the work who appreciate the workman. Religion is the only thing that ever can impart pure devotion of feelings, of which the unworthy are deficient. Religion is the highest rational process. All the means of securing true faith are rational.

The great object of religion is to civilize man, render him fit for the human family, and adapt him for his mighty change. Religion looks to reason, judgment, sense, law and justice. There can be no religion of the heart, but of mind, that recognises all things of thought, word and deed. We can reach or embrace no part of creation, but by and through mind. As mind appreciates, priestocracy and peculiar or heart faith, depreciates.

Religion does not refer to the heart, but the affections, emotions and passions, the functions of mind. Such makes a person too religious to be in any peculiar church! The world should know its own powers through its own rights. The religion of principles, is the object of all. religion.

Without principles nobody improves

Mind culture alone, will not suffice for religion. It must secure the highest appreciation of all, and the practical illustrations. It must do its best practicable duty.

Religion commands all to avoid taking advantage of passions, emotions or circumstances, and characterizes the best class of the world, as doing the most good.

The mere men of straw, military and superstitious, will not answer for the light of civilization. The world needs religion, the true effect of which is civilization.

We have not to inquire about any man's faith, when we inquire has he cultivated his religion? What religion, it may be asked? He has and can have but one, and that from God. That cannot be mistaken, as faith and truth are analogous. As a rational being, we address you in all this matter. Religion, and bibles of tradition with peculiar faith, are two different things. Religion proves itself, but bibles of tradition disprove themselves. Principles only, can legalize religion. We should progress in the right views of religion. What is the true position of religion among rational men? Is it not rational religion? What is the most valuable element of religion? Justice to man and duty to God. Without it, one hardly knows how to begin action in the world, till he is nearly ready to leave it. What good does the world do him, then, temporarily, if not religiously? Why do not the people do right? Because they do not know, frequently, beforehand, and are victims of relative habits. They have little power of analysis of thought. True religion teaches that none should surpass in reverence to deity, who has the exclusive right to adoration of mind.

Is man an accountable and responsible being?

Then he is so only on rational basis, and on no other.

All morals are based on truth and reason, on no other. All religion is on principles, the most exalted.

When we begin to think, talk, and act on principles that are uniform, then we begin to enjoy the noblest, highest refinement and civilization.

True religion and morals must be upheld by the world's conservative patriots. The proper character demands trial, proper efforts and perseverance. It becomes the good citizens of the world to see what is the best protection for religion and their profession. It becomes honest patriots to inquire rightfully what is their duty and obligation. This inculcates chastity, eternal truth, avoidance of murder and crimes involving sympathies. To uphold religion, then, give God all due him. This is intellectual, religious honesty. The church-monarchical power and monetary influence, have prevented the just view of religion. Superstition and all its malign influences commenced before science, which is to eradicate them. The social world is singularly constituted, on account of money and power, ignorance and superstition. We know very well what malign influence of peculiar education is, and how it perverts mind. That is often a misfortune, rather than a crime or fault. But be it what it may, it should be corrected. The world is diversified, and needs the various best talents of honesty and truth, elevated science. As to faith, when rational, that is God's concern. Religious fortitude upholds the best resolves of mind and soul. Whilst she teaches us to exert ourselves for the best, we must strive to receive all as the best, and be best satisfied if mind do not demand correction. Who can appreciate civil and religious liberty, that gives the pure currency of thought the noblest reflection of actions? The world must have fixed just views of religion, as the only proper elevated standard of actions. What are the religious rights of freemen? The way to have them universally performed best, is to have universal knowledge on the subject. This business materially concerns all mankind, all minds, as they are the beneficiaries. How long will they suffer their rights of mind to be put in abeyance to exploded bibles of tradition and their peculiar faith? The most substantial, shortest road to happiness, is through the virtue, purity and innocence imparted by religion. The religion of the good when matured, will fill the world with its best position, rendering mortals most happy. Let it not be debauched by the bibles of tradition, and kept behind the age of freedom. We need the absolute conservation of social duties and relations. Be independent of the world, if you desire truth and virtue, true independence. How callous must be the world when it affects that some say; this is my belief, and that it may be perpetuated, however erroneous. Proselyte in good if practicable; correct and teach on principles; enlighten on science. What is to protect man, but the great conservative social principles? If man infringe or encroach on social rights and duties, thus far is he injured, as others may do the same. If sophistry be admired, sycophancy must be practiced. Both are in antagonism to truth, as faith without religion. We desire religion that we can be pleased with, having affection therefor. If it cannot be a pure guide or light for safety, it is mere faith, worse to its friends than enemies. Religion demands candor and decision on honorable judgment, or silence where there is not certainty. Religion is the settled policy of the system of principles. Perverted is the wretch that would impugn religion or its sacred precepts. For universal brotherhood, the world should go as its greatest good, next to religion, the sacred indispensable duty to God. Religion is the

moral sublime that requires well posting up in good deeds, thoughts and words. It is an immortal subject, to be taken hold of by all rational minds. True religion protects and commends itself to mind, for the world's purification, truth's verification, universal confidence. Public oaths can only be on the best affirmation, and that should be as sacredly held as the most serious declarations. Religion enjoins sanctity to words, as matters of fact not to be violated. What especial merit can any arrogate to themselves on the profession of religion, a necessary constituent of their minds? Rational education makes religion acceptable, and causes it to differ from superstition. What enable us to get the right advantage of the world?-Principles. The highest obligations are due society and religion. What has religion to do with party spirit or peculiar faith? Religion recognises the obligations of justice, as ever paramount. The world must go for the law of God, nature, mind, religion, reason and truth, and if all the bibles of tradition are antagonistic to them, they should be at once excluded the world. Why prate about religion, when it is essential to all. It cannot be too cultivated, as evinced by civilization and character, the wisest and most intelligent legislation, freedom of enlightened speech and press. The common interests of the world are not alienated, unless the sacred rights of the people were basely violated. Religion is not for suppression of legitimate passions, as monks teach, but for their legitimate enjoyment. You need the only religion that rational mind can ask for, rational religion, and that you cannot mature without rational measures.

We seek that basis which is competent to build up what is right, not merely exclude all errors; to look up to country, parents, and the world, to do all that justice requires. But the ostensible reason for peculiar faith, is on account of man's sins. Now that is an utter defiance of mind's analysis.

Religion has an identity with mind inseparable therefrom, and comprehends the whole duty of mind.

It is a constant inspiration of God's principles, directed by a true analysis of mind. Sin is an accompaniment of man's nature, either untaught or uncorrected, and negatives as evil the proper result of principles of conservation.

Do the people actually know what they want or need ?

Have they rightly analyzed all that is necessary?

Do they know what analysis of the subject is?

In their excitement about religion, they may look to a Messiah, but no true masterly analysis can affirm this, the pretence of a profession that thus seeks profit.

What is religion? The best duty of man, to God and man.

How does man show it? By enlightened mind and the most comprehensive reason that takes in the compass of all practicable principles, instituted for the physical, moral, and religious state of the universe.

What mind lacks of civilization, it lacks of essential religion. Then rational religion is a science the most exalted and cultivated.

The most energetic powers are most potent of good, if rightly directed, as those of steam, while the innate powers of mind are analogous for good or evil, by analogous direction.

Religion is then a self-regulating system, to prevent the necessity of paying forfeiture for any delinquency, if it did not soar to the most ennobling emotions and object, an eternal homage to the worthiest being in creation.

Assuredly religion is the true foundation for avoidance of penalty, that must requite for duties unperformed, and errors committed, the noblest guarantee of reward for duty done. He who violates any principle, must necessarily pay forfeiture, and has to make restitution.

Religion teaches the general avoidance of all suspicious persons and matters, that may corrupt if evil.

The best command of the elements of nature, an ever present subject, presupposes a proper knowledge of her, then religion to master her duly, must be the science of sciences.

This world's beauties and virtues are too often read amiss, by an unthinking and ungrateful people.

Their construction is libel, their appreciation is too often subversive of reasonable benefits.

Mankind seeks to improve religion that belongs to all minds, not to peculiar faiths. We appreciate what religion is, not by feeling alone, but by enlightened conscience when it can refer to reason, for it requires a rational, not fanatical conscience, that towers above the animal feelings.

What is religion, then, but a binding again the mind that had become perverted from the innocence of infancy, and had to be rebound in the purity of enlightened conscience?
