practice of them as recently at Rome? The fault was in the men, not in the principles.

None of the principles of the one Supreme Being clash; if they did, the fault lies in the interpretation or exposition, that is certain.

Superstitious worship of any kind clashes with mind's purest offerings in its most dignified adoration.

Are the worthy followers of what they deem the true faith seeking in earnest, to meet all points for the morals and good of the world? Will they learn of God? Then let them read his only earthly inspiration, cause and effect.

They will have to forsake the errors of the bibles of tradition-ways, and adhere to rational bibles.

But the mighty talisman of this bible was, the divine rights of kings and priests! The only divine rights, after God, are those of the whole people, consecrated by mind.

Citizen of the world, there is danger in taking any such authority as the bibles of tradition, as the sole rule of our faith, moral, social and religious practice. We must not regard any statement of men, when their object is to be attained at the disregard of facts and truth. Truth is omnipotent over all scriptures, that do not respect it. Their examples are heinous, and their doctrines poisonous.

In the first place, God is horribly insulted by imposition, then society is deceived by a loose state of morals and untruth. Then came the clash, hate, wars, conflicts, and dangers of sects, orders of peculiar faith, as Judaism. Those of Christ, Mahomet, Smiths and tinkers.

Thereby the great truths and attributes of Almighty God's works of creation are neglected for minor points.

Also, the value of mind, that should be ever regarded as superior, that recognises all creeds, pretences, policies, opinions, and dogmas, is lost sight of at the most important time of man's life, and the world's history, when its faithful and manly aid is needed to oppose all these vices by the mighty standard that God has reared, reason, that can only estimate all these truly.

Mind, that has just appreciated the mighty dawn of the world's conservative revolution, is banished when it has to do justice to its potency, virtue, and character, excluding all fanatic, ignorant, selfish, and contracted views, rearing its just, wise, and enlightened cultivation for morals, religion, obedience to God's justice, instead of the bigotry of his self-perverted creatures.

Do we need proof in more than the ordinary occurrences and employment of life, of mind's universal value, power, will, and paramount functions?

Then take your own bible history, absurd as it is, of the two first human creatures in the garden of Eden, and undeniable evidence is furnished yourself of corruption, from temptation operating on these two ignorant beings, from want of mind to appreciate future evils in their full force and virtue, and want of firmness in those minds in resisting the inroads of invading forces, to become hostile to mind's best interests, peace, and aappiness.

But it is natural for opposition to the bible to prevail. So say its advocates, who pretend that infidelity to that book of tradition cannot cease till all, Jew and Gentile, are converted to it!

That will never be, as long as reverence to the God of the universe is paramount, and as long as he is Supreme.

When God yields supremacy, then the world will yield the question, and chaos, physical and intellectual, will predominate.

No opposition but that of principles is effectual, and that cannot be overcome. As to infidelity to the bible of tradition, that is fidelity to truth, mind, reason, and God. Infidelity, then, is the exclusive property of the bible advocates.

Has fanaticism any reason, any honor?

Some think that the Mosaic law is the general law of the land and nations.

Did the Romans adopt that law for the hundreds of years of their various governments, consular and others?

Did the laws of the Medes and Persians, of the Greeks, of the Chinese, derive their origin from that source?

Is our organic law, as set forth in the principles advocated of the rights of sovereign citizens, in 1776, a copy of the Mosaic law? Are the modern advocates the blindest of the blind, to pretend to all this?

We must allow for feudal ages, the prevalence of tyrannical times, when the human mind was truly enslaved, more or less, by force and custom, all great enslavers still. But how far is this degrading vassalage to be carried?

A wise selection has to be made in the world's book, to bestow the proper tribute to mind, in its vast and prolific power.

Why did God permit his Israelites, who were his peculiar chosen people so many centuries, as bigots pretend, to be out of the pale of safety?

All this betrays imbecility of God, were it not the stupid imbecility of dramatic priestocracy.

It is the picture of a peculiar god painted by Judaism, surely and truly the work of craftship, that necessarily betrays itself.

But the bibles of tradition must confirm the tradition. If they be unreasonable, they violate truth, and cannot be God's works. All such do violate truth most abundantly. Wise men agree in condemning such bibles, it is said. Do they not agree in other things also?

But wisdom, not men, must speak. It is not opinion, but the soundest and most truthful facts to be announced.

If any bibles stand in opposition to truth, let them go, as they cannot rightfully stand. Truth must and will annihilate all such, their originators and followers.

We all are interested in overthrowing all that opposes truth.

The greatest usurpation is that of the bible of tradition, and faith that it originates on God and mind.

But the bibles of tradition have stopped human sacrifices with savages! And introduced wholesale butcheries of nations instead.

What difference does it make to arrest individual human sacrifices, by sacrifice of the people by thousands to establish church rites and despotism, that outraged the continents of the world by dispensations of their people and their lands?

"Prideaux is of opinion, that Ezra made additions in several parts of the bible, where anything appeared necessary for illustrating, connecting, or completing the works; in which he appears to have been assisted by the same spirit in which they were at first written.'

"To the same cause, our learned author thinks, are to be attributed many other interpolations in the bible, which created difficulties and objections to the authenticity of the sacred text, no ways to be solved without allowing them."-Buck's Dictionary.

Sacred text is it, that is fixed up as suited the priestocracy?

Is the constitution of our United States due to the priestocracy system, that deprives the people of their sovereign rights? of constitutional liberty?

Say, do not the lights of American intellect reflect the inspiration of the Almighty God of the universe, operating on mind?

Is the civil law of Louisiana, adopted as the Roman law, due to the narrow contracted code of Moses, or the fabricators of the Mosaic dispensation?

But if we take the bible of tradition away, we can have no system of religion.

Our answer is, that with that, or any bible of tradition, we have no system at all of religion!

In fact, mind is the only example of laws of inspiration, and the progress of mind proves the progress of inspiration.

We will thus have the only and best system of religion, all that is legitimate, that flows from the inspiration of mind, and is hallowed by reason, inspiration, and rational religion.

Ours will be the only moral law, resulting directly from conservative principles, and as to society flying to atoms and fragments, all the good citizens, from sense of mental safety, will feel bound to fly to wise and adhere to fundamental laws. Society will be thus properly cemented.

Our laws, defective as the basis now in existence, are for the good of society, and are upheld by the redeeming sense of citizens good and true.

None of our laws can be essentially sustained, unless upheld by mind and reason. Bibles cannot, when they controvert principles.

Essential good and wise legislation will be more important, and better executed, without so much curse of society, respect to persons, by combination and collusion.

The prompt equity of the admiralty courts takes its character from the civil law, and invalidates any pretended opposition as nugatory.

All such flourished, by the magnanimity of mind.

The copyists of bible traditions reverse this noble quality, and honor not God of Mind, but the little gods of men-dreamers.

Mind accepts, on the highest of all earthly authorities, fortified by religion, a God worthy of contemplation, reverence, and adoration, that rules out bibles of traditions, bringing forward myths of most disreputable degradation. Rational mind is sublimely the master of the whole theatre, and the master of impeachment.

It seeks to supersede, as impeached most justly, that bible, with better social, all religious principles, having no sectarian and bigoted quality, but to be put on their merits, and to be self-condemned, if on their demerits, for such is rational religion.

All will feel bound to do all things rightful, as self-agency of mind is constantly recognised, and the original is presented from a living God, for mind to imitate.

All have to be made sensible, on the highest basis of appreciation, that all that commit errors have to suffer equivalent penalties.

This doctrine truly inculcates on all strict accountability, and holds all amenable, and exempts none-predestinarians, universalists, atheists, deists, or polytheists-who are completely estopped thereby, and by no other.

This is the real and only compact that the God of the universe has vouchsafed to man. In the deepest wisdom let it be read, and subscribed to by humanity.

The greatest proof is brought, that principles hold mind all the time accountable, the more free-agency is permitted, and reason makes it responsible to the laws of justice on earth, and the God of Mercy in the universe.

Reason, that is rational thought and action of mind, tells man, that if he seek to diverge from the path of rectitude, in duty to God and men, propriety of conduct in society, honesty in morals, with less than truth on his lips, and sincerity in his mind, that he is gone to paths of perdition in sin and degradation, and is in a fair way to be lost and undone for time and a part at least of eternity, or lost, to a difficult point to recover from, on this sphere.

But how shall the world reach this supreme and independent tuition?

With supreme care, by the lights of mind, uniformly brought to all minds, and not left to contingency.

By whom? By the faithful parents, friends, and guardians of the individuals, by the wisest statesmen of the state, at reason's dawn.

Whose word shall it be? That of the Almighty Creator.

We must analyze the nature of mind, to know the whole capacity, the results and due progress.

Laying a right foundation, we can then proceed more speedily and safely.

But has not all this been a slow process?

It is the only safe and sure position, as it is the base. Purity in principle will best insure safety in the result.

The bible of tradition is not the book for the enlightened eye of science and philosophy, of government and of morals.

When it was written, those that could read and write were considered highly gifted, and endowed with peculiar privileges, if not with pretended inspirations. These mindprivileges were not diffused among the people.

It was an endowment for the learned, especially the priests, the so-called sacred depositories of the so-called sacred records. The very word hieroglyphics defines a meaning of sacred symbols.

Let intelligent freemen amend all such, to the best of their ability, and put an end to this imposition.

The bible betrays deepest ignorance of commonplace principles; a book that should have blessed mankind in the mighty benefits of God, had it not been endowed with the curses of man.

Is all this book-superstition to be kept up, from no cause of absolute good that it, the book, does?

The understanding can never be perfected to wisdom under such dominion, for sophistry predominates, and arbitrarily rules; consequently mind and reason are badly tyrannized over.

Tradition is a matter of false pretences, and speculation, if it do not rest on the facts of truth, that looks to purity of reason; therefore tradition must be rational, to be worthy of the credence of rational minds.

How does the bible-god stand before the august presence of the God of nature, creator of the universe?

No wonder the charlatan priestocracy were bewildered in the mazes of light that eclipsed their absurd darkness, when they placed the balance of creation to be mere lights to this little earth! What a miserable idea!

No wonder they betrayed themselves in disposition of mind, whose highest dignity they betrayed by dealing with the devil, the father of falsehoods all their own.

They, in all their interlinkings of self-interest for thousands of years, have never raised the voice of reason to enlighten mind about the miserable legends, but have reached farther and farther into this wretched quagmire.

Their tradition affects a curse by prophecy on one of the sons of Noah forever!

What miserable degradation and corruption!

What standard curse has nature?

But you say that you cannot permit yourself to doubt of the authenticity of the bible of tradition. Is this the safe way, or the intention of mind, thus to act with passiveness in any life-question-to waive necessary inquiry, or to crush its falsity? That is not religion.

Will you disregard the necessary precautions in a matter most paramount, as it is, beyond all questions, to be investigated, whether official, genuine or spurious.

But what test have we as to this mighty question? The only test at the tribunal of the beneficiary mind, by a free, enlightened and rational discussion, that necessarily leads to the adoption of whatever is right, and excluding all of mind's perversions. Whatever God ordained is right, and what that is, mind must inquire truthfully, not with sophistry to decide in bad faith, tory to God.

But you may pretend that the mysteries of that bible may not be for mind.
That is one of many reasons of its own impeachment and self-condemnation.

It is not possible that the wisest being, God, could have given mysteries to the world when he desired the strictest obedience to his word, that had necessarily to be divested of all mysteries to be plain enough to be understood by mind; therefore, also, as mankind perverts bibles of words, God put his word into his works, that cannot be mistaken nor successfully perverted by man.

It takes rational minds and the best reason to divest ignorance of her mysteries, the only ones known.

None but the wilful blind can avoid seeing; none but the wilful ignorant can deny this.

But then you demand a code of morals for your children and family, the world.

To whom can you permit the guidance of your children but to God, whose guardianship is supreme by principles?

But a code of rational mind will insure them this, and prove that the unprincipled always get into difficulties.

The bible of Judaism inconsistently makes God changeable, an utter impossibility, as God, from his character as God, consents to be immutable by principles, that are immutable as truth, virtue, &c.

All the bibles of tradition last, because they have propagated doctrines to the support of absolute governments, and its advocates help to promote union of church and state. Such is an interested and corrupt policy.

The design is to embrace the worldly interests, and influence the feelings of the advocates.

Their sophistry, though jesuitical and subtle, is too glaring to pass unnoticed by the mind of intelligence.

That they should attempt to portray the mighty character of God, and libel it in its essentials, at once condemns them all to utter contempt, as all vain, if mind itself were not adequate to its functions!

No form of priestcraft faith, however upheld by all such bibles, can be right, as no pure religion can flourish in the world, its theatre, destitute of constitutional religious freedom, no more than a union of free states can have a freedom of government in a central power of any one of them.

Strange to say, that God's peculiar people should suffer the universal evils of the world, as all other people, and should be peculiarly excluded from the so called Savior's blessing, for the whole time, from the first moment to the present. How is this?

No sophistry can avail with the magnificent author of munificence, the only imperial supreme in his genuine sublimity. Any people that was the peculiar favorite of the God of the universe, must have had a peculiar organization. Did the Jews have such? Then of course they were never the peculiar favorites, as their whole history proves most conclusively.

They merely had a peculiar god, as all their cotemporaries, and from that peculiar god, have been formed other peculiar gods, endowed with the name of trinity, the Mahometans, Mormons, &c.

There can be no direct inspiration of providence, except through the best agency of mind in principles that directly represent Deity.

Has Moses violated truth and honesty, the two first principles of religion? if so, he is unworthy the confidence of mankind.

It is proved that he has put himself in this category. Much more then, is the work growing out of it.

The first duty of the bible-advocates, is to prove its authenticity, as carrying all other proofs to mind's conviction, conversion and adoption.

In defence of such bibles, the present age must see silence or sophistry.
But what good will it do to discard and impeach the bibles of tradition?

As much good as any world-benefit, because we have thereby, religion for peculiar faith, the God of nature for impostors, and then our preachers will be of and for the people, not of and for themselves, and the people can institute lectures on the science and philosophy of man's duty and religion, inculcated by wise legislation, morality, truth, honesty and virtues.

All rational minds must seek to exclude such books, because they are in antagonism to the bible of rational mind, that inculcates monotheism, that seeks to take the shade and shadow of meanness out of human nature, and elevate it to its best attainable character.

Can conclaves of men at councils, vote out the authentic from the genuine books, centuries after the matter is said to have transpired? All that they can do on all such occasions, backed by all the world-emperors, is to smuggle false bibles of absolutism.

This bible has the most outrageous and vicious toryism to obsolete and exploded dogmas, on the divine rights of the people, and causes its worst errors to be a miserable and horrible fixture on mind's progress, constituting an incurable evil.

Mind that does not progress, must retrograde, therefore the sooner we get rid of such corruption, the better.

Take the texts, contexts, whole chapters, the whole book, all, to give the fairest, best exposition, and it excludes itself without redemption.

What a libel on the God of the universe, who permits any people to merit their own destiny, and govern it for the better. He could not be God, otherwise.

But what a god does Judaism create!

Mind, to be a free agent under its circumstances, looks back to the past, observes the present, and contemplates the future.

Let none wonder at the false pretences of the bibles of tradition, made so by the priestocracy and its minions of the present day.

What was the most of ancient history, but a compound of truth and fiction, before printing?

Even now, it is most difficult to separate the two, so much does self-interest degrade it by sophistry.

The Jews have been forced into their belief by all the peculiar powers that can influence man, and yet a part of the Jews feel under little obligations to it as religion, and as to returning to Jerusalem, some of them laugh at that idea.

The prophecy about Ishmael at once cuts down the prophecy of every knee bowing to Christ, for that involves love and peace of all mankind, not hatred and war, much less piracy and degradation. This all proves how ineffably stupid were the biblemongers.

But who were the Ishmaelites ?

The proof of ancient genealogy by Moses, is analogous to all prophecy of the eternal freehold inheritance of the Jews.

Now the king of Muscat, part of Arabia, recently, like a perfect gentleman, though Mahometan, cultivated the friendship of these states of America, having a different faith.

This does not show a deadly hostility to the rest of the world, but excludes the bible's prophecy.

We do not object to the bible's not teaching astronomy, geology, phrenology, ethnology, or psychology, but to its misteaching, or teaching them wrong, as the bible was written by men for priestocracy very ignorant of science.

The mind of analysis is needed for improvement of mankind by science, and will exclude the bible, as it must respect truth before the bible.

All the prodigies, as crossing the Red Sea, the food of manna, all must be taken in a priestocracy sense.

I would quote an article about manna now found, but it's of no use, as no sane intelligent mind can believe any bible of tradition worth more than the currency of priestoc

racy.

We cannot rely on the bible as a correct history, much less a safe system of religion, for various reasons.

"The precise number of the Hebrew manuscripts of the Old Testament is unknown; those written before the years seven hundred, or eight hundred, it is supposed were destroyed by some decree of the Jewish senate, on account of their numerous differences from the copies then declared genuine. Those which exist in the present, were all written out between the years one thousand and fourteen hundred and fifty-nine." Chronology is very different in the bibles.
