ignorance. It is man's inspiration of man, and ignorant, botching man at that! As to the bible, the only thing rational about it cannot be had, that is proof of its authenticity. Shall any dare say that we scoff at religion, because to get at it we exclude the bibles of tradition and peculiar faith that stand in the way?

In going for religion, we go for all that is rational and just. The bible of tradition is the chart of sophistry, humbuggery, imposition, fraud, and false pretence.

It is easy enough to decide all this question of reference to truth and facts, for all relates to peculiar faith that does not relate to rational religion.

The inadequacy of pretended revelation is manifest, as is clear to every mind but to men base and degraded as Moses, Abraham, and hosts of such.

These men did have religion revealed directly by God to them. What God? The little peculiar god of the Jews! He did not have it to give. All such peculiar machinery was peculiarly impracticable.

All the potent means of revelation, as printing, the electric telegraph, and all proper appliances would have accompanied direct revelation, to give the greatest good to the greatest number.

Direct revelation implies the most direct gifts to man; but as he did not get them, of course he did not get such revelation. The art of printing is more of a revelation of genius of mind.

What does it prove, that the ancient philosophers admitted the necessity of a revcšation? Its authenticity?

The observations of those called philosophers only proved that their philosophy was defective. If mind, the beneficiary, take proper cognizance of all the bible matters in all its essential comprehensiveness, it will find that God alone is an unexceptionable and indispensable witness of the authenticity of the scriptures.

Out of the very great number of particulars of time, place, persons, &c., mentioned in the Old Testament, is proof drawn against, not for it. How far has the bible been corrupted? Of course not less than peculiar interests required. Three bold and glaring interpolations detected, serve to prove the vitiation of the whole, as several perjuries in a witness's statement serve to exclude him from all honorable courts of justice. That is all that is necessary in such a tribunal, that cannot be required to expose every idea. Genesis xxxvi. 31 is enough of itself; but when we add the last chapter of Deuteronomy, the matter is most conclusive. Is it not most dishonest to let this imposition continue? The books of Moses alone, are vitiated enough for all.

Yet the unblushing and brazen priestocracy, who are bribed and feed on the part of governments united to church for greater despotism, will contend that the books are genuine! Are they also authentic?

An authentic history is one thing, a bible is another.

The advocacy of the Mosaic bible cannot refute the corruption, to say the least of the Pentateuch.

How far that corruption extends, we do not know; but suffice it that it is corrupt. What a pitiful state, to have to feign answers to refute positive facts in the bible? Is truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, pure religion? How, then, can the professors countenance all this infamy? They have to yield bible or religion, for both cannot go together. All the words-divine, testament, covenant-are all forgeries. What patriot does not desire his noble country exempt from such foul imposition? God is so supremely greater than priestocracy's corruption, that his works and word all came together, and excluded miracles and revelations of after-thoughts. His mighty structure begets admiration in mind, that must truly adore the author. The bible of tradition supporters have considered what is politic for dynasty and power, not what is true and beneficial for the people. This, like every other subject, should be open for popular discussion. for popular discussion. No pretended feelings should beget false positions and views. The bible cannot elicit the respect and confidence of the world, and ought to be dismissed and discountenanced, as it is not a work in good faith to benefit the world. It is the injury and disgrace of mind.

The bible of tradition advocates are nonplused. Honest men must see their corruption, and must acknowledge and expose it, or be silent. The strategy of subtle sophistry has been used by the bible advocates, till it will not avail them. They have made hypocrites, and dupes or atheists, where the mind was not well balanced to espouse the sublime truths of monotheism.

Now, after the first five books are vitiated with interpolations fixed up with false dates, the whole dependent thereon must fall. Are not the advocates confuted? Will they not, as honest men, retire from their own overwhelming defeat, but mingle with the corruption-identify themselves therewith?

What a botch the ignorant but designing priestocracy seek to make of God's universe----

only of themselves. The bible is Jew and Christian oracles-cunningly devised and kept up. Unwarrantable licenses have been taken in writing and corrupting the scriptures, to suit the complexion of the times.

Are not the interpolations of the pentateuch of this order? Bible superstitions are as hard to eradicate as ghosts' superstitions. Grant the fabricators the deepest learning, which is not admitted, it is sophistry or learning prostituted. There are no forgeries in the bible! It is all a blasphemous forgery and libel on God, made up by collusion of priestocracy, bribed and seduced by mental prostitution, through money and power. It is a fund for world sophistry. The origin and advocacy of the bible came from pretensions and assumptions of the priestocracy. To that, the world is indebted for the advancement of faith, not merely historical, but saving, otherwise the hearer is to be

damned.

The bible was a dead-letter, necessarily, in its conception, much less its propagation. Part of it is proved, it is asserted, as regards the deluge, by the phenomena on the earth. Those phenomena are doubtlessly due to organic causes, not to incidental contingences.

Who represent the witnesses, the Jews, who saw Moses perform the miracles? Dead letters!

What, do we deny history? Not at all; we only deny its counterfeits. That the Jews did receive laws, as no nation can exist without them, is not denied, but who proves their identity with divine inspiration? I admit the laws and history as human, and very poor ones indeed, if we look at the witch part, &c. But more is an imposition and fraud.

When the arch priestocracy affect to talk to their God, how imposing it seems, yet this is not religion at all. The man is furthest from it, very clear of it. Socrates was as near, when he required the sacrifice of a cock to Esculapius. When we strip off the mantle of pretensions, we can see the proper analysis. Why were the Jews so idolatrous? The view just embraced explains.

It was all the idolatry and false pretences of the priestocracy, who took the degraded view of low human nature for immediate profits. The Jews did not know enough of the God of the universe to do any good. They knew the peculiar god of priestocracy. Neither covenant was correct, as they clashed with principles through sectarianism. The God of the universe has no such machinery as covenant, prophecies, &c. The tyranny of the bible and the priestocracy over mind, is execrable. All the bibles of tradition are most dangerous, the source of which cause more bloodshed and ill will and rancor in the world, than all others known. This and analogous verbal oracles are and were leading causes all over the world, when resolved by the beauty and strength of analysis into first elements. Jews, as well as nations of the earth, owe it to themselves to see justice done them in government and religion. The polygamy of Abraham, &c., misled Mahomet and others fabricating bibles of tradition, as well as the licentious inclined in all circles.

Do I say that the bible of Moses is among the most demoralizing books in the world? What is the Mahometan faith, that emanated from this foul and disgraceful source, the foulest blot on human nature? What is its vice about women? How many are divorced by one husband? According to Dr. Paulding, who resided among them, the Mahommedans can marry and divorce wife after wife.

The Ishmaelites look up to Abraham for polygamy, and what is all that but legalized prostitution with oriental despotism? The Mahometan faith enslaves and prostitutes women. Is it not better to have wise laws framed to virtue, that is, the recognition of principles, than base bibles framed to vice? Dr. Paulding declares that the guilt of any falsehood, in the opinion of Mahomedans, is immediately expiated by the repetition of two words. The corruption of polygamy is awful. It elicits with the Mahomedans the most unnatural and degrading vice, not to be named in the civilized circle.

Congratulate yourselves, females of America and part of Europe, that you have the blessings of mind diffused over your happy land, and that you can rejoice in the name of wife, children, freedom, and virtue, and that you have a home indeed, all of which render sacred the family. All this is due to the illustrious stand of enlightened man. To reform people of other faiths, you must faithfully reform yourselves. We demand of you in the first place, before you quote the odious bible for offence or defence, to prove its authenticity, to adduce its authority, otherwise we require your positive silence. No bibles of tradition can prove a Creator; then they cannot prove themselves, after the foolish assumptions of advocates. The first step is false, and therefore all is ineffectual. The bible The bible is called the Word of God. God himself must testify to that assertion, else it devolves and recoils on man as a base and infamous fabrication. The bible of tradition cannot prove a Creator, while it libels him.

The bible can never get the confidence of rational mind, as it fosters the one idea of peculiarity of faith. Rationality is not peculiar.

Could the world ever be half civilized by all the capital that bibles usurp or abstract from mind? They are a great and profound mystery. Rather, a profound sophistry. The burlesque of the Jews about God is evinced in the Talmud Berachoth, "Alas! that I have laid waste my house, and suffered my temple to be burnt, and sent my children into banishment among the heathen," &c.

We take nothing for granted in the bibles of tradition, or any thing that priestocracies and their affiliations can say.

If the old and new scriptures were a perfect harmony, there would be no difference between the Jews and Christians, and all would only be followers of peculiar faith.

Why is there any difference between your sabbaths? Because men's opinions and interests differ.

"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." Christian, do you love the Jew, Mahomedan, Mormon? Do ye not ardently study to get ignoble advantage of each other and the world?

The bible is irreligious; it does not make God any thing of the great God of the uniThe more peculiar it is, the more it diverges from God. Piratical opinionists and usurpers do not listen to reason.

There is no fallen condition of man. It is a libel on God and man. It is an uprising of mind all the time, more or less. The bible is potent for evil. When a man is cornered about his faith in the bible, he places his peculiar faith in mystery! Men in the pulpit assume that God has written the bible! What a profanation, a desecration! God has been pleased to declare his will by his works; that is demonstrable.

Bible writers make mysteries, so that the advocates cannot solve them, about predestination, trinity, &c.

Moses had to drub his people into superstition, by slaughter of thousands. Ah, but he had witnesses of his deeds and miracles, to satisfy his people, it is pretended. Where are they? Will all such statements go through as authenticated proof, in an honorable court of justice?

Any direct revelation from God would commend itself universally, as his character is universal, not peculiar. We have the very best evidence how the scriptures were fabricated from the miracles of the Romans, as the liquefaction of the blood of St. Januarius. How came the children of Israel to believe Moses? On the same ground that the whole world came to believe in its whole systems of polytheism. All the artifices, the frauds, force, sophistries of priestocracies brought it about. It is idle to affect that bad men could not write such bibles, when that was the profession of all ancient priestocracies.

The bible is a complex thing, a mixture legend of history and peculiar faith, the first being in disgraceful company. How, then, can rationalists be honestly asked to believe it? Some advocates affect that the fabrications of the bible or scripture impostors were too good to do such a thing. The facts prove them to have done the very thing. Has not the world been engaged in all such, time out of mind?

Are not all these mere editions upon editions of pagan idolatry, and all the concomitant despotism?

There have been analogous efforts in all ages known to us, correspondent to the conditions of mind.

But the advocates for revealed faith bind themselves to the car of its idolatry, and worship at the shrine of its superstition, never seeking to be wiser. Can any thing be more ridiculous than the ignoble pretensions of faith, that is a perfect nonentity, unless backed by reason and truth? All the book false pretences about revelation and inspiration cannot compare at all with the sublime proof that God has left of himself in a universe of cause and effect, making himself the Great First Cause. If there be revelation or inspiration established by God, he would not let such fall through because of proof. Now, where are the indisputable proofs of both? Do men of mind, patriots of purity, need any better proof or argument of self-delusion about books and all their pretences, than those furnished by the Mormons?

All writings are analogous, and must be put on analogous position. If not authentic history, but purporting to be revelation and inspiration, of course we must have the proper proof of such, ere any honest sound mind can begin justly to believe them. If any book is set up above history, it must have correlative proof. Who gives the interpretation and solution of bible mysteries, prophecies, &c.? It is mind, which conclusively proves that that alone is the medium, through science, for reason.

How comes it that monotheism or deism, in which the world is primarily concerned, as regards religion, is postponed for pretended bible revelations ?

Has social proscription established her inquisition?

How comes it that the people cannot hear both sides of this mighty question fairly and honorably, ere partisan views are taken? It is to the world, the people, that this subject must be addressed, who must analyze for themselves the whole position. How shall we explain all the difficult passages of bibles of tradition?

Do you, intelligent American, complain of fanatics growing like weeds, in this lovely country?

Did you not proscribe rational, the only religion that would save all from fanaticism? The only fair way, both sides, is literal interpretation of the scriptures. We must avoid all metaphor, as far as practicable. Can the morals of the world be amended or governed by any revelation or inspiration that is pretended? Can any answer adequately but that which approaches the soundest principles of reason, responsive to the best standard of Deity?

All such bibles are the emanations of priestocracies and despotisms, the union of collusion, most conclusively so. If the fountain head be notoriously untrue, how can truth be honored? The bible is too antiquated in its peculiar characteristics; mind does not require mere notions, crude and absurd, but universal principles, and the appropriate progress of those principles. All the bible shows man, the priest man, the priest's peculiar god. This has pretended to tell of conversations had, and many particular things that never were mentioned or transpired since the universe was made as it is. The world has to guard against all these.

All its prophets are false, and cannot admit of anything but false pretensions and interpretations. Half the world has been slave vassal to demagogues; monarchs and a host of right-invaders influence writers, to prevent the people's good. Of what use is pretended revelation, when all bibles of traditions present only false pretences of inspiration? So far is revelation from revealing the future, it does not define the present. God would not use locally a second imperfect means of all languages to do what his sublime genius had consummated in one mighty universal language for time, ubiquity and eternity. What is pretended to be revealed faith is impotent and imbecile.

Rational religion teaches by bullion; the author is counterfeit throughout. What the bible has, it has usurped from mind. The world needs true capital, not base counterfeits. God is to be adored by mind, not worshipped by superstition or idolatry. The change of God, in which the scriptures abound, is a libel, as he is immutable. The change is to be in sinful beings. Man is mutable. The scriptures, so far from being a mirror reflective of God's word, is its worst caricature. They, on that basis, must be untrue, as God could not caricature himself.

The bibles of tradition do not touch the subject of religion, for they are treatises of peculiar faiths, with which the civilized world has nothing to do. Such concerns the priestocracy, not the people.

Moses' bible purports to give a creation of the world, fall of man, universal deluge, a brief history of the race of man till that event, also an account of the separation of a particular family, the germ of a nation. All this All this is fable, much of it is truly false science. The second dispensation affects abrogation of God's law. God does not abrogate any law; but man does, in his after knowledge. The bible presents, in its portion, desertion of solemn principles; it then has no principles, but sectarianism. The people should read, know, understand and discuss, for full knowledge all such subjects. None can believe all the bible, yet faith in all is enjoined as an absolute and positive injunction. Full faith in such bibles is hypocrisy, deficient faith is invalid. No freeman should ever think of making up his mind until he knows both sides of the question -all that the subject of religion admits of. All rational beings should analyze this whole matter.

What produced fanatical piratical crusades?

Peculiar faith of bibles of tradition and martial ambition. The whole bible was then, as now, but totally inefficient with its own partisans, much less the world, to effect a universal pacification or love. Then, mind had not been enlightened. If this scripture do not tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, according to the most dignified taste of jurisprudence, it is vitiated, and unworthy to stand before man, much less God, whom it libels.

The world should strip off this false coloring, this infamous covering. The defenders are not only special pleaders, storiographers and sophists, but most deeply prejudiced. The bibles of tradition do not remove man from the brutes, for they do demoralize and brutalize man, by all the iniquities of peculiar faith. This kind of book familiarizes the mind to the pusillanimous perversions of reason and truth, substituting false pretences and faithlessness. All this would have been long ago exploded, but for the pecuniary bribes of salaries, of official influence, and worst of all by court proscriptions and inquisitions of governmental despotisms.

Religion is no book-jugglery. The decision against the bibles of tradition is made by this conservative question of mind, Is this action correct, when we wish to do all that is right? Talk of inspiration and revelation, when we have neither moral, physical, intellectual, or religious science, by any such! No bible of tradition throws or can throw any light on the subject of religion, for it is exclusively on peculiar faith. All the bibles of tradition carry on their face the facts of their own refutation. It is idle and absurd to say, that they were held authentic by any anterior to us, when the proof of their falsehood is borne on their pages. We cannot look at any such work as history, or analagous to history, that reaches the truth as near in being the word of God, as that any people ever conquered the world. Analysis corrects all such. Moses reflected the despotism of the times, having been bred at court, and a priest in his mind. What could not a courtier, a priest and pettifogger do? Six hundred thousand men saw Moses receive the law from God. Where are they now Where are they now-are they here to testify -will any prudent mind endorse that statement as fact? If all the world's people, the world's age in the face of cause and effect were to endorse it, the perjury is sealed surely.

How did the Israelites become a nation? How came the Indians on this continent? All people had an analogous start, and must have lived somewhere. It is very unreasonable to suppose them forty years in a wilderness, destitute of the ordinary process of living, as well for their cattle as themselves, the priestocracy cattle. What, do we disbelieve the word of God? Not at all, we do not, cannot credit the legends of Moses, that is all. And if we believed some little of the probable, we could not take the balance.

The arch impostors affected the depths of antiquity, and on the face of their book the legend sticks out.

How did he rule the Jews? By priestocracy, sophistry, law, and sword. His own statement shows how many were sacrificed to that despotism. How came he to get such an ascendancy over the people? By the despotism of popular ignorance, that is most conclusively proved, when they wept so at the reading of the law that was said to be in a book found, that is, written by the priestocracy.

Among the worst features of this matter, are the most outrageous and unnecessary false pretences, as the Nile river turned into blood! How degraded must be that mind, that calls this veracity of Moses, who only carried out the oracle game. All peculiar faith bible of tradition oracle-writers were conspicuous in the ancient world, for legend and fiction. All such, of course, expected advantages, as Numa, Romulus, &c.

When the people consulted oracles, they thought the lie that the priestocracy spoke. What nation was without them? It is an exception to truth to exclude Moses, as Jew, Christian, Mahommedan, and Mormon, are all profiting by his pagan pretences and rules. The history of priestocracy to the present day is this, that they invented superstitious faith beyond the time of true history, and the followers endorse it as true. The priestocracy are the pagan perjurers, the people the endorsers.

And what odds does it make for one or more to play the oracle game of collusion? Is any so verdant as not to see it? Who are here to contradict them, of all that the pretence is recorded ?

All this can be asserted with impunity then, but only with ignorant, corrupt people, who cheat themselves.

Yes, all the acts of these pretended men are blazoned forth. can endorse their deeds? Is martyrdom offered as proof? even among the Juggernauts.

Who, of the moderns, Fanaticism begets that,

Is circumcision offered as proof? The Egyptians, Colchians, Ethiopians, Phoenicians, and other ancient nations, adopted that.

Are miracles proof? The creation of the universe, the word, the deed, cause and effect, stands sublimely above all such, and invite mind, the beneficiary, to the recognition of the First Great Cause.

Are rites and ceremonies proof? All ancient nations had them. They were church speculations, and liable to gross abuse and misconstructions.

They have been transplanted to countries of their adoption by the resident or emigrant advocates, as well as to posterity, by church membership, the easiest thing imaginable. Are persecutions proof? Have not all important peculiar faith systems had their day, their mutual persecutions and heresies, and their temporary power departed forever! Such will be the case with Judaism, and all its progeny.

It takes no prophet to tell what the wise judgment of cultivated mind accurately knows. God created the universe, and his almighty providence is identified in the sublimity of its magnificence. How do we know anything of this? The universe is the result of cause and effect--is referable to the Great First Cause, the Almighty.
