May it Please Your Excellency

We being Assured by manifold Instances of the tender Care and regard you have for the well fare happiness and ease of his majesty's Subjects of this collony and that [at] all times since your administration here whatsoever hath been in your Excellencys power to grant for the ease and benefit of this province has been hitherto with the utmost chearfullness conferred upon it

Wee do now in the most humblest manner represent to your Excellency that as it is not the happyness of this province to have your Excellency constantly residing amongst us it would be a Great Satisfaction that the chief Justice should The going to York from the most distant parts of this province with two persons to put in Special Bail to an Action if above Five pounds, to get the allowance of a habeas corpus, writt of Error Certiorari or other Remediall writ as well as many other occasions of Application to this Officer is So great a Difficulty and hardship in the trouble hazard inconveniency and Expence as we are induced to believe your Excellency in your tenderness and compassion will no Sooner think on than redress

Wee might add to what has been said before the uncertain Security of the people in having So considerable An Officer who is vested with so great a power of doing Injury as well as doing Good live without the Jurisdiction of the powers of this province

Wee Shall not Observe on the conduct of that Gentleman who now Enjoys that office' but humbly hope that as wee think there are persons liveing within this province capable to Execute that office, Your Excellency will in your wonted goodness to favour us with your Nominating and comissionating of a person liveing in this province for that office

His Excellency acquainted this board that in complyance to the address from the representatives of this province he has nominated William Trent' Esq' chief Justice of this province

Ordered that the Said chief Justice be desired to Assist the comittee to whome was referred the consideration of the ordinance for regulating the courts of Judicature in the province

His Excellency Acquainted this board that he has appointed John Wills and James Smith Esq' masters in chancery and Peter Bard Esq' Examiner in chancery

James Alexander chairman of the comittee to whome was referred the bill Intituled An Act for an Additional Support of this Government and Makeing Current fourty thousand pounds for that and other purposes therein mentioned reported that they had gon through the Said bill and was ready to report the Same when this board wold be pleased to receive the same

Ordered the report be made Imediatly, then the said James Alexander Esq' in his place reported that the Said Comittee had gone through and considered of the said Act And had Ordered him to report the same without Amend

Ordered the Said Bill be read the third time then the said bill was read the third time and passed without Amendment Ordered that the said James Alexander Esq' do acquaint the house of representatives that this board have passed the said Bill without amendments

A Message from the house of Representatives by m2 Provoost and m' Hooper with a bill Intituled An Act concerning the duty of Comissioners appointed to manage the Loan office in the respective Countys of this province Acquainting this board that they had passed the Same and desired the concurrence of this board thereto

the said bill was read the first time and Ordered a Second reading the said Bill was read a Second time & comitted to the Gentlemen of the councill or any five of them

Mr Bard chairman of the comittee to whom was referred the Several Petitions of the out Inhabitants of the County of burlington in the place comonly called the New Township reported that the comittee having heard the several reasons of both the partys and duely considered the same are of opinion that the petitioners Should be relived from the hard ships they now complain of by your Excellency's Granting them a patent for a township separate from the townships of Spring field and cester field
