pleated y Service of y° first year and did all that was to be done concerning the Letting out of moneys In the Second year but died In Jan'y there after to witt before the receiveing back the money or Intrest of y° Second year

this board therefore on the Submission of y parties do determine that the one half of the Sallary of y° Second year be to the Execut" of David Lyell & the other half to m' Smith Mr Ashfield receiver Generall of the prop" attending took the Severall oaths appointed to be taken by the first Article of his Excellency's Instructions

And his Excellency haveing desired the opinion of this board of what Sum was proper that he should give in for the due Execution of his office and of the method of that Security

It is the opinion of this board that a thous pound Security be Given by him to his majty by recognizance himself in five hundred pds and cash [each] of his Securitys in two hundred and fifty pounds with Condition for the due Execution of his office

And Accordingly Richard ashfield Receiver Generall of the prop" acknowledged himself to be indebted to our Lord the King his heirs and Successors in the Sum of five hundred pounds and Lewis Morris Esq' and James Smith Esq' each of them acknowledged themselves to be indebted unto our Lord the King in the Sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be Levyed upon their goods and chattels Lands and tenements on failure of y° Condition under written

the Condition of the above recognizance is Such that if the above bounden Rich Ashfield shall well & truly Execute the office of receiver Generall of the prop" of the Eastern Division of New Jersey to the best of his Knowledge then the above recognizance to be void

Taken and acknowledged the twentyeth day of July 1726 before me
