were needful) if Unbelief therefore hindred them from cafting that Devil out, then it is plain they did not believe that they should caft him out; and why should you think then they attempted it, who believed they should not effect it I think it much more likely, that finding themfelves diftrustful of the event, and wanting Faith, they would not venture the Succefs. This, I think, is the only Instance, that feems to gainfay, what I have laid down, and this, were there a good Occafion, might be otherwise accounted for, if what is faid be not fufficient. this ought to make the difference between Workers of Miracles, above all other things whatever. This Confideration fhews, that tho' all Miracles have their Ufe, yet that those alone can atteft to the Miffion of a Prophet; which he fore-knows he fhall be enabled to do, and fo foretells to others; leaving no room for fufpicion that he intends to make ufe of what accidental Miracles may happen to be wrought by him, to gain belief to what he fays.
