Prophecies concerning Jesus Christ, and the Fulfilment of them.

BEHOLD a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call his name IMMANUEL. Isaiah (a) vii. 14.

The angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS; for he shall save His people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled

which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a Sqn, and they shall call His name EMMANUEL, which being interpreted, is GOD WITH US. Matthew i. 20-23.

Unto us a child is born, unto us a SON IS GIVEN. Isaiah ix. 6.

Unto you is born this day, in the (b) city of David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord. Luke ii. 11.

God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John iii. 16.

Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and lo! the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him : and lo a voice from heaven saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew iii. 16, 17.

When the (c) fulness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians iv. 4, 5.

(a) Isaiah lived above 700 years before the coming of Christ. (b) In Bethlehem. (c) The time appointed by God, and foretold by His prophets.

His name shall be called-the mighty GoD. Isaiah ix. 6.

In the beginning was the (a) Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth. John i. 14.

Of whom (the Jews) as concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Romans ix. 5.

Unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O GOD, is for ever and ever. Hebrews i. 8.

His name shall be called-the Prince of PEACE. Isaiah ix. 6.

In Christ Jesus, ye, who sometimes were afar off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ, for He is our peace. Ephesians ii. 13, 14.

The angel said unto them, Fear not; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men. Luke ii. 11. 13, 14.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. John xiv. 27.

Being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans v. 1.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come. Revelation i. 4. xxii. 13.

The Lord of peace Himself give you peace always, by all means. 2 Thessalonians iii. 16.

THE government shall be upon His shoulder— of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth even for ever. Isaiah ix. 6, 7.

The angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary : for thou hast found favour with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive and bring forth a Son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His Father David: and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever: and of His kingdom there shall be no end. Luke i. 30–33.

He must reign till He hath put all enemies under His feet. 1 Corinthians xv. 25.

These shall make war with the (a) Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called and chosen, and faithful. Revelation xvii. 14.

The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation xi. 15.
