J. CARR, M.A., formerly Lecturer in Mathematics, the Technical College, Bradford. Na paper, "Note on Green's Lemma and Stokes's in the Phil. Mag. for 1927, I postulated the existence in Euclidean space of n dimensions of the formula analogous to Green's Lemma for three dimensions in the form ... J, = d(x1, ... xs-1, Xs+1, ... Xn)/d(u1, un-1). This was arrived at by comparison with the previous results of the same article, and without attempting further to prove it, I set myself the same month that the paper was published the problem of finding a solution of the equation Vw by its aid. By pure but happy accident, two days after I had completed my solution to my satisfaction I discovered a handy. little book, 'Vector Analysis and Relativity,' by Dr. F.
