Again when Thy Spirit from Thee doth proceed, All things to appoint, and what shall ensue ; Then are they created as Thou hast decreed, And dost by Thy goodness the dry earth renew.
THAT man is blest who stands in awe Of God, and loves His sacred law His seed on earth shall be renown'd, And with successive honours crown'd.
His house the seat of wealth shall be, An inexhausted treasury; His justice free from all decay, Shall blessings to his heirs convey.
The soul that's fill'd with virtue's light, Shines brightest in affliction's night! To pity the distress'd inclin'd, As well as just to all mankind.
Beset with threat'ning dangers round, Unmov'd shall he maintain his ground: The sweet remembrance of the just, Shall flourish when he sleeps in dust.
FROM all that dwell below the skies, Let the Creator's praise arise; Let the Redeemer's name be sung Through ev'ry land, by ev'ry tongue.
Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord; Eternal truth attends Thy word:
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.
FROM lowest depths of woe, To God I send my cry; Lord hear my supplicating voice, And graciously reply.
My soul with patience waits
For Thee the living Lord;
My hopes are on Thy promise built, Thy never failing word.
My longing eyes look out
For Thine enliv’ning ray,
More duly than the morning watch To spy the dawning day.
Let Israel trust in God,
No bounds His mercy
The plenteous source and spring from whence Eternal succour flows.
THE praises of my God and King While I have life, or breath to sing ; Shall fill my heart, and tune my tongue, Till heav'n improve the blissful song.
Happy's the man whose hopes divine, On Israel's guardian God recline ; Who can with humble gladness say, This God is mine, my help, my stay."
The hungry poor God's hand sustains, And breaks the wretched captive's chains; The Lord relieves the widow's cares And dries the weeping orphan's tears.
The Lord shall reign for ever King, And age to age His glory sing; The Lord thy God, Ŏ Zion, reigns, Resound His praise in joyful strains.
PRAISE the Lord, who reigns in heaven, Yet will deign to dwell below; Praise to Him be ever given, Thankful all His goodness shew.
Praise Him for His great compassion, Praise Him for His matchless power! Him from whom proceeds salvation, All in heav'n and earth adore.
Him, let all the creatures living, Source of their existence, sing, Glory to their Maker giving, Humblest homage to their King.
See His bounty's copious treasures All their various wants supply; Praise His name in sweetest measures, All beneath, above the sky.
AGAIN, O Lord, I ope my eyes Thy glorious light to see, And share the gifts so largely lent To thankless man, by Thee.
And why has God o'er me this night The watch so kindly kept? And why have I so safely waked, And why so sweetly slept?
Is it to waste another day In folly, sin and shame ?
To give to these my heart and hand, And spurn my Maker's claim?
No! thus too many days I've spent, To Thee, Lord, this be given; Teach what I owe to man below, And to Thyself in heaven.
O bring me to my Saviour's Cross For mercy for the past;
And make me live the coming day As if it were my last.
FATHER! by Thy love and power Comes again the evening hour, Light has vanish'd, labours cease, Weary creatures rest in peace. Saviour to Thy Father bear This, our feeble evening prayer ; Thou hast seen how oft to-day We, like sheep, have gone astray.
Holy Spirit! breath of balm ! Fall on us in evening's calm ; Yet, awhile, before we sleep, We with Thee will vigils keep.
Blessed Trinity! be near
Through the hours of darkness drear; When the help of man is far Ye more clearly present are.
SUNDAY MORNING HYMN.
LORD, by Thee in safety borne To another Sabbath morn, Once again, our pilgrim feet In Thy peaceful temple meet-
