PSALM LI.-Ver. 1, 2 and 3, 11, 12.

1.

HAVE mercy, Lord, on me,

As Thou wert ever kind;

Let me, oppress'd with loads of guilt,
Thy wonted mercy find.

2, 3.

Wash off my foul offence,

And cleanse me from my sin; For I confess my crime, and see How great my guilt has been.

11.

Withdraw not Thou Thy help,
Nor cast me from Thy sight;
Nor let Thy Holy Spirit long
Withhold His blessed light.

12.

The joy Thy favour gives

Let me again obtain,

And Thy free Spirit's firm support
My fainting soul sustain.

PSALM LVII.-Ver. 7, 8, 9 and 10, 11.

7.

O God, my heart is fix'd, 'tis bent,
Its thankful tribute to present;

And, with my heart, my voice I'll raise
To Thee, my God, in songs of praise.

8.

Awake, my glory; harp and lute,
No longer let your strings be mute;
And I, my tuneful part to take,
Will with the early dawn awake.

9,10.

Thy praises, Lord, I will resound
To all the list'ning nations round:
Thy mercy highest heaven transcends;
Thy truth beyond the clouds extends.

11.

Be Thou, O God, exalted high;
And, as Thy glory fills the sky,
So let it be on earth display'd,
Till thou art here, as there, obey'd.

PSALM LXVI.-Ver. 1 and 2, 16, 19, 20. 1, 2.

LET all the lands, with shouts of joy,
To God their voices raise;

Sing psalms in honour of His name,
And spread His glorious praise.
16.

Oh! come, all ye that fear the Lord,
Attend with heedful care,

Whilst we what God for us has done

With grateful joy declare.

19.

Our God to us, whene'er we cried,

His gracious ear did bend, And to the voice of our request

With constant love attend.

20.

Then bless'd for ever be our God,
Who never, when we pray,
Withholds His mercy from our souls,
Nor turns His face away.

PSALM LXVII.-Ver. 1, 2, 3, 4,

1.

To bless Thy chosen race,
In mercy, Lord, incline,

And cause the brightness of Thy face
On all Thy saints to shine;

2.

That so Thy wondrous way

May through the world be known; Whilst distant lands their tribute pay, And Thy salvation own.

3.

Let diff'rent nations join

To celebrate Thy fame;

Let all the world, O Lord, combine
To praise Thy glorious name.

4.

Oh! let them shout and sing

With joy and pious mirth!

For Thou, the righteous Judge and King, Shalt govern all the earth.

PSALM LXXII.-Ver. 17, 18, 19.
17.

THE mem'ry of God's glorious name
Through endless years shall run;
His spotless fame shall shine as bright
And lasting as the sun.

In Him the nations of the world
Shall be completely bless'd,
And His unbounded happiness
By every tongue confess'd.

18.

Then bless'd be God, the mighty Lord,
The God whom Israel fears;
Who for the greatness of His works
Beyond compare appears.

19.

Let earth be with His glory fill'd ;

For ever bless His name;

Whilst to His praise the list'ning world
Their glad assent proclaim.

PSALM LXXIII.-Ver. 25, 23 and 24, 26, 28.

25.

WHOм, Lord, in heaven but Thee alone
Have I, whose favour I require?

Throughout the spacious earth there's none
That I besides Thee can desire.

23, 24.

Thy care and aid to me supplied

My life sustain, my wants relieve :-
Thou first shalt with Thy counsel guide,
And then to glory me receive.
26.

My trembling flesh and aching heart,
May often fail to succour me;
But Thou shalt inward strength impart,
And my eternal portion be.
28.

Then as for me, 'tis good and just
That I should still to Thee repair,
In Thee rejoice to put my trust,

And all Thy wondrous works declare. PSALM LXXIX.-Ver. 5, 8, 9, 13.

5.

How long wilt Thou be

angry,

Lord?

Must we for ever mourn?

And wilt Thou let Thy dreadful wrath,

Like fire, for ever burn?

8.

Oh! think not on our former sins,

But speedily prevent

The utter ruin of Thy saints,

Almost with sorrow spent.

9.

Thou God of our salvation, help,
And free our souls from blame;
So shall our pardon and defence
Exalt Thy glorious name.
