sich. Saulus aber war etliche Tage bey den Jüngern zu Damascus. 20 Und alsobald predigte er Christum in den Schulen, daß derselbige Gottes Sohn seh.

21 Sie entsetzten sich aber alle, die es höreten, und sprachen: Ist das nicht, der zu Jerusalem verstörte alle, die diesen Namen anrufen, und darum hergekommen, daß er sle gebunden führe zu den Hohenpriestern?

22 Saulus aber ward jemehr kräftiger, und trieb die Juden ein, die zu Damascus wohneten, und bewährte es, daß dieser ist der Christ.

23 Und nach vielen Tagen hielten die Juden einen Rath zusammen, daß sie ihn tödteten.

24 Aber es ward Saulo kund gethan, daß sie ihm nachstelleten. Sie hüteten aber Tag und Nacht an den Thoren, daß sie ihn tödteten.

25 Da nahmen ihn die Jünger beh der Nacht, und thaten ihn durch die Mauer, und ließen ihn in einem Korbe hinab.

26 Da aber Saulus gen Jerusalem kam, versuchte er, sich zu den Jüngern zu machen; und sie fürchteten sich alle vor ihm, und glaubten nicht, daß er ein Jünger wäre.

27 Barnabas aber nahm ihn zu sich, und führete ihn zu den Aposteln, und erzählte ihnen, wie er auf der Straße den Herrn gesehen, und er mit ihm geredet, und wie er zu Damascus den Samen Jesu freh geprediget hätte.

28 Und er war bey ihnen, und ging aus und ein zu Jerusalem, und predigte den Namen des Herrn Jesu freh. 29 Er redete auch, und befragte sich mit den Griechen; aber sie stelleten ihm nach, daß sie ihn tödteten.

30 Da das die Brüder erfuhren, geleiteten sie ihn gen Cäsarien, und schickten ihn gen Tarsen.

31 So hatte nun die Gemeine Frieden durch ganz Judäa, und Galiläa, und Samaria, und bauete sich, und

was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. 20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. 23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him.

24 But their laying wait was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

25 Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cesarea, and sent him forth to

Tarsus.

31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified:

wandelte in der Furcht des Herrn, und ward erfüllet mit Troste des heiligen Geistes.

32 Es geschah aber, da Petrus durchzog allenthalben, daß er auch zu den Heiligen kam, die zu Lydda wohneten.

33 Daselbst fand er einen Mann mit Namen Aeneas, acht Jahre lang auf dem Bette gelegen, der war gichtbrüchig.

34 Und Petrus sprach zu ihm: Aenea, Jesus Christus macht dich gesund; stehe auf, und bette dir selber. Und alsobald stand er auf.

35 Und es sahen ihn alle, die zu Lydda und zu Sarona wohneten; die bekehrten sich zu dem Herrn.

36 Zu Joppe aber war eine Jüngerin, mit Namen Tabea, (welches verdolmetschet heißt: ein Rehe,) die war voll guter Werke und Almosén, die sie that.

37 Es begab sich aber zu derselbigen Zeit, daß sie frank ward und starb. Da wuschen sie dieselbige, und legten sie auf den Söller (obern Saal.)

38 Nun aber Lydda nahe bey Jopben ist, da die Jünger höreten, daß Petrus daselbst war, sandten sie zween Männer zu ihm, und ermahneten ihn, daß er sichs nicht ließe verdrießen, zu ihnen zu kommen.

39 Petrus aber stand auf, und kam mit ihnen. Und als er dargekommen war, führeten sie ihn hinauf auf den Söller, und traten um ihn alle Wittwen, weineten, und zeigten ihm die Röcke und Kleider, welche die Rehe machte, weil sie bey ihnen war.

40 Und da Petrus ste alle hinaus getrieben hatte, knieete er nieder, betete, und wandte sich zu dem Leichname, und sprach: Tabea, stehe auf. Und sie that ihre Augen auf; und da sie Petrum sah, setzte sie sich wieder.

41 Er aber gab ihr die Hand, und richtete sie auf, und rief die Heiligen, und die Wittwen, und stellete sie lebendig dar.

42 Und es ward kund durch ganz

and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

33 And there he found a certain man named Eneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

34 And Peter said unto him, Eneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas; this woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did.

37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39 Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body, said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

42 And it was known throughout

43 Und es geschah, daß er lange Zeit zu Joppe blieb beh einem Simon, der ein Gerber war.

Da8 10 Capitel. Es war aber ein Mann zu Cäsarien, mit Namen Cornelius, ein Hauptmann von der Schaar, die da heißt die Welsche,

2 Gottselig und gottesfürchtig, sammt feinem ganzen Hause, und gab dem Volke viele Almosen, und betete immer zu Gott.

3 Der sah in einem Gesichte offenbarlich, um die neunte Stunde am Tage, einen Engel Gottes zu ihm eingehen, der sprach zu ihm: Corneli !

4 Er aber sah ihn an, erschraf, und sprach: Herr, was ists? Er aber sprach zu ihm: Dein Gebet, und deine Almofen find hinauf gekommen in das Gedächtniß vor Gott.

5 Und nun sende Männer gen Joppen, und laß fordern Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus,

6 Welcher ist zur Herberge bey einem Gerber, Simon, deß Haus am Meere liegt, der wird dir sagen, was du thun sollst.

7 Und da der Engel, der mit Cornelio redete, hinweggegangen war, rief er zween seiner Hausknechte, und einen gottesfürchtigen Kriegsknecht von denen, die auf ihn warteten;

8 Und erzählte es ihnen alles, und sandte sie gen Joppen.

9 Des andern Tages, da diese auf tem Wege waren, und nahe zur Stadt kamen, stieg Petrus hinauf auf den Söller zu beten, um die sechste Stunde.

10 Und als er hungrig ward, wollte er anbeißen. (speisen.) Da ste ihm aber zubereiteten, ward er entzückt,

11 Und sah den Himmel aufgethan, und hernieder fahren zu ihm ein Gefäß, wie ein großes leinenes Tuch, an

3 He saw in a vision evidently, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sem them to Joppa.

9 T On the morrow, as they on their journey, and drew unto the city, Peter went up upo. the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, an a certain vessel descending un him, as it had been a great she

14 Petrus aber sprach: O nein, Herr; denn ich habe noch nie etwas Gemeines oder Unreines gegessen. 15 und die Stimme sprach zum andern Male zu ihm: Was Gott gereiniget hat, das mache du nicht gemein.

16 Und das geschah zu dreh Malen; und das Gefäß ward wieder aufgenommen gen Himmel.

17 Als aber Petrus sich in ihm selbst bekümmerte, was das Gesicht wäre, das er gesehen hatte, stehe, da fragten die Männer von Cornelio gesandt, nach dem Hause Simons, und standen an der Thüre,

18 Riefen, und forscheten, ob Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus, allda zur Herberge wäre?

19 Indem aber Petrus sich besinnete über dem Gesichte, sprach der Geist zu ihm: Siche, dreh Männer suchen dich;

20 Aber stehe auf, steige hinab und ziehe mit ihnen, und zweifle nichts; denn ich habe sie gesandt.

21 Da stieg Petrus hinab zu den Männern, die von Cornelio zu ihm gefandt waren, und sprach: Siehe, ich bin es, den ihr suchet; was ist die Sache, darum ihr hier sehd?

22 Sie aber sprachen: Cornelius, der Hauptmann, ein frommer und gottesfürchtiger Mann, und gutes Gerüchts bey dem ganzen Volke der Juden, hat einen Befehl empfangen vom heiligen Engel, daß er dich sollte fordern lassen in sein Haus, und Worte von dir hören.

23 Da rief er sie hinein, und beherbergte sie. Des andern Tages zog Petrus aus mit ihnen, und etliche Brüder von Joppen gingen mit ihm.

12 Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou

common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now, while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? 22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews. was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 Und des andern Tages kamen fie ein gen Cafarien. Cornelius aber wartete auf sie, und rief zusammen seine Verwandte und Freunde.

25 Und als Petrus hinein kam, ging ihm Cornelius entgegen, und fiel zu seinen Füßen, und betete ihn an. 26 Petrus aber richtete ihn auf, und sprach: Stehe auf, ich bin auch ein Mensch.

27 Und als er sich mit ihm besprochen hatte, ging er hinein, und fand ihrer viele, die zusammen gekommen

waren.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Cesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up: I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

29 Darum habe ich mich nicht geweigert zu kommen, als ich bin hergefordert. So frage ich euch nun, warum ihr mich habt laffen fordern?

30 Cornelius sprach: Ich habe vier Tage gefaftet bis an diese Stunde, und um die neunte Stunde betete ich in meinem Hause. Und siehe, da trat ein Mann vor mich in einem hellen Kleide,

31 und sprach: Corneli, dein Gebet ist erhöret, und deiner Almosen ist gedacht worden vor Gott.

32 So sende nun gen Joppen, und laß herrufen einen Simon, mit dem Zunamen Petrus, welcher ist zur Herberge in dem Hause des Gerbers Simons, an dem Meere; der wird dir, wenn er kommt, sagen.

33 Da sandte ich von Stund an zu dir. Und du hast wohlgethan, daß du gekommen bist. Nun sind wir alle hier gegenwärtig vor Gott, zu hören alles, was dir von Gott befohlen ist.

34 Petrus aber that seinen Mund auf, und sprach: Nun erfahre ich mit der Wahrheit, daß Gott die Person nicht ansiehet;

35 Sondern in allerleh Volke, wer

of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. 29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner, by the seaside: who, when he cometh, shalı speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation, he that
