Or,

Ps. lxviii. 18. Ascendisti in altum.

THOU, LORD, art gone up on high, Thou hast led captivity captive, and received gifts for men: yea, even for Thine enemies, that the LORD GOD might dwell among them.

Praised be the LORD daily even the GOD Who helpeth us, and poureth His benefits upon us.

He is our GOD, even the GOD of Whom cometh salvation GOD is the LORD, by Whom we escape death.

It is well seen, O GOD, how Thou goest: how Thou, my GOD and King, goest in the sanctuary.

:

The singers go before, the minstrels follow after in the midst are the damsels playing with the timbrels. Give thanks, O Israel, unto GOD the LORD in the congregations from the ground of the heart. Glory be to the FATHER, &c.

As it was in the beginning, &c.

To be read on the First Sunday in Advent, and First Sunday in Lent, and at intervals throughout the year. The Psalm to be then omitted.

Hebrews xii. 22.

YE E are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the Living GOD, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of Angels, to the general assembly and Church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to GOD the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to JESUS the Mediator of the New Covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused Him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the

earth but now He hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve GOD acceptably with reverence and godly fear : for our GOD is a consuming fire.

Then let the Reader say,

Blessed be the Holy, Undivided TRINITY,
Henceforth, and for ever.

Let us pray.

To be said by all together.

LMIGHTY GOD, we most humbly draw near unto Thee, remembering our many and grievous of fences. We confess to Thee that we have sinned exceedingly, in thought, word, and deed. Have compassion upon us; and grant that all the sins, offences, and neglects, of the days already gone, be freely pardoned, and entirely done away, through the precious Blood of Thy dear SON JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

THE

THE Almighty GOD grant us true repentance, and bring us safe to life everlasting. Amen. Our FATHER, &c.

(Collect for the Day.)

WE E praise Thee, O LORD our GOD, for this Thy holy day. Grant that it may be to us a day of rest from worldly toil and care. Refresh our souls with Thy heavenly gifts. Enable us to worship Thee, in Thy house of prayer, in spirit and in truth. Bless the ministers of Thy Church; especially those who

labour in this parish; make Thy word, in their mouth, powerful to the conversion of sinners, and to the building up of Thy people in the faith of Thy Blessed SON. Grant that all who confess Thy Holy Name, may be of one heart and of one soul, united in one holy bond of truth and peace, of faith and charity, and may with one mind and one mouth glorify Thee; through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

GOD, Who hast prepared for them that love Thee

such good things as pass man's understanding; pour into our hearts such love toward Thee, that we, loving Thee above all things, may obtain Thy promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

LORD, Who hast taught us that all our doings without charity are nothing worth; send Thy HOLY GHOST, and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of charity, the very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whosoever liveth is counted dead before Thee: Grant this for Thine only SON JESUS CHRIST's sake. Amen.

O pray for the
peace of Jerusalem :
They shall prosper that love Thee.

ALMIGHTY GOD, we most humbly beseech Thee,

shed Thy saving grace abroad among all people. May a double portion of Thy Spirit rest upon the ministers of Thy Word and Sacraments, (especially the Bishop and Clergy of this Diocese,) and bless all congregations committed to their care. Vouchsafe Thy special blessing to all who are near and dear to us, (especially- -,) and unite us in one faith and one hope; that having washed our robes, and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb, we may hereafter together dwell with Thee in heaven; through the merits of JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

GRANT,

When there is Holy Communion.

RANT, O LORD, we beseech Thee, that whosoever of us is this day admitted to receive the Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Thy CHRIST, may partake thereof with true repentance, steadfast faith, and ardent charity, and be filled with the fruits of His most blessed redemption; through the same JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

THE

LORD, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.

LORD, have mercy upon us.

HE LORD bless us and keep us; the LORD lift up the light of His countenance upon us, and give us peace, now and for evermore.

Amen.

I

Sunday Evening.

Psalm cxi. Confitebor Tibi.

WILL give thanks unto the LORD with my whole heart secretly among the faithful, and in the congregation.

The works of the LORD are great sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.

His work is worthy to be praised, and had in honour and His righteousness endureth for ever.

:

The merciful and gracious LORD hath so done His marvellous works that they ought to be had in remembrance.

:

He hath given meat unto them that fear Him He shall ever be mindful of His covenant.

He hath showed His people the power of His works that He may give them the heritage of the heathen.

:

The works of His hands are verity and judgment: all His commandments are true.

:

They stand fast for ever and ever and are done in truth and equity.

He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever; holy and reverend is His Name.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do thereafter; the praise of it endureth for ever.

Glory be to the FATHER, &c.
As it was in the beginning, &c.
