2 Father, save me from my sin,
Saviour, I Thy mercy crave,
Gracious Spirit, make me clean-
Father, Son, and Spirit save!
8 Father, let me taste Thy love,
Saviour, fill my soul with peace,
Spirit, come my heart to move-
Father, Son, and Spirit bless!
4 Father, Son, and Spirit, Thou
One Jehovah, shed abroad
All Thy grace within me now-
Be my Father and my God!

317 To the only wise God our Saviour,

be glory and majesty.-Jude 25. 10 the Source of every blessing, Grateful anthems let us raise; Holy joy, our souls possessing, Swells the tribute of our praise. 2 Glory to the Almighty Father, Fountain of Eternal love, Who, His wandering sheep to gather, Sent the Shepherd from above. 8 To the Son all praise be given,

Who, with love unknown before, Left the bright abode of heaven, And our sins and sorrows bore. 4 Equal strains of warm devotion Let the Spirit's praise employ; Author of each holy motion,

Source of wisdom, peace, and joy.
5 Thus while our glad hearts ascending
Glorify Jehovah's name,

Heavenly songs with ours are blending;
There the theme is still the same.

318 Praise ye the name of the Lord.

Ps. 135, 1.

1 SING Hallelujah! praise the Lord!
Sing, with a cheerful voice;

Exalt our God with loud accord,
And in His name rejoice;

Ne'er cease to sing, thou ransomed host,

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

Until, in realms of endless light,

Your praises shall unite.

2 There, we to all eternity
Shall join the angelic lays,
And sing, in perfect harmony,

To God the Saviour's praise:
"He hath redeemed us by His blood,
Hath made us kings and priests to God;
For us the heavenly Lamb was slain,
Praise ye the Lord!" AMEN.

PRAISE God from whom all blessings

Praise Him all creatures here below:
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

TO Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
One God whom we adore,

Be glory as it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

327 The word of the Lord endureth for

ever.-1 Pet. 1, 25.

PRAISE, everlasting praise be paid To Him, who earth's foundations laid;

Praise to the God, whose firm decrees Sway the creation as He please. 2 Praise to the goodness of the Lord, Who rules His people by His word, And there, as strong as His decrees, He sets His kindest promises.

3 Firm are the words His prophets give, Sweet words on which His children Each of them is the voice of God, [live; Who spoke and spread the skies abroad.

4 O for a strong, a lasting faith,
To credit what the Almighty saith;
To embrace the message of His Son,
And call the joys of heaven our own.
5 Our everlasting hopes arise
Above the ruinable skies;

Where the Eternal Builder reigns,
And His own courts His power sus-

328 The heavens declare the glory of

God.-Ps. 19, 1.

HE heavens declare Thy glory, Lord; In every star Thy wisdom shines; But when our eyes behold Thy word, We read Thy name in fairer lines.

2 The rolling sun, the changing light,
And nights and days Thy power confess;
But the blest volume Thou has writ
Reveals Thy justice and Thy grace.

3 Sun, moon, and stars convey Thy praise Round the whole earth, and never stand;

So when Thy truth began its race,

It touched and glanced on every land. 4 Nor shall Thy spreading Gospel rest, Till through the world Thy truth has Till Christ has all the nations blest [run; That see the light or feel the sun. 5 Great Sun of Righteousness, arise! Bless the dark world with heavenly light; Thy Gospel makes the simple wise, Thy laws are pure, Thy judgmentsright. 6 Thy noblest wonders here we view, In souls renewed, and sins forgiven: Lord, cleanse my sins, my soul renew, And make Thy word my guide to heaven.

329 The statutes of the Lord are right.

1 BE

-Ps. 19, 8.

EHOLD the morning sun
Begins his glorious way!

His beams through all the nations run
And life and light convey.

[ocr errors]

But where the gospel comes,
It spreads diviner light;

It calls dead sinners from their tombs,
And gives the blind their sight.

3 How perfect is Thy word!

And all Thy judgments just;
For ever sure Thy promise, Lord,
And men securely trust.

4 My gracious God, how plain
Are Thy directions given!
O may I never read in vain,
But find the path to heaven!
I hear Thy word with love,
And I would fain obey;

[ocr errors]

Send Thy good Spirit from above,
To guide me lest I stray.

While with my heart and tongue,
I spread Thy praise abroad,
Accept the worship and the song,
My Saviour and my God.

330 The law of the Lord is perfect.-Ps.

19, 7.

1THY law is perfect, Lord of light!
Thy testimonies sure;
The statutes of Thy realm are right,
And Thy commandments pure.

2 Holy, inviolate, Thy fear,

Enduring as Thy throne;

Thy judgments, chastening or severe, Justice and truth alone.

3 More prized than gold, -than gold whose waste

Refining fire expels;

Sweeter than honey to my taste,-
Than honey from the cells.

4 Let these, O God! my soul convert,
And make Thy servant wise;

Let these be gladness to my heart,
The dayspring to my eyes.

5 By these may I be warned betimes;
Who knows the guilt within?

Lord, save me from presumptuous crimes,

Cleanse me from secret sin.
