First, It is obfervable, (as I have already fhewn) That the two Perfons fpeaking, as well as the Subject of their Difcourfe, are the fame in both Vifions, viz. Michael, or the Man Cloathed in Linnen with a Golden Girdle, and Gabriel, or the Man fent to make Daniel understand the Vision. Wherefore I shall not now Repeat what has been so fully treated of in the beginning of this Treatife; and this is a strong Argument that these two Paffages are on the very fame Subject

Heb. IX,

Secondly, As the Man Cloathed in Linnen with a Golden Girdle, has been fhewn to be Our Saviour, who is the High-Priest in his own Tabernacle: It will be very Natural and Consistent, to fuppofe the Daily no other than what belonged to his Tabernacle, and not that which was peculiar to the old Tabernacle and Temple of the Jews. Thirdly, This Daily cannot be the Lamb offered Exod. Day by Day continually, because that was not xxix.38. offered in the Sanctuary, but on the Brazen Altar, xxvin. which was without the Sanctuary.

It can therefore only mean the Daily in the Sanctuary, on the Altar to burn Incense, overlaid xxx,1,35

"And Aaron fhall burn thereon fweet Incenfe

every Morning; when he dreffeth the Lamps, "he fhall burn Incense upon it.

СС

"And when Aaron lighteth the Lamps at Even, he fhall burn Incense upon it, a perpetual "Incense before the Lord throughout your "Generations.

"Ye fhall offer no ftrange Incense thereon, "nor burnt Sacrifice, nor Meat Offering, neither fhall ye pour Drink-Offering thereon. "

"

This was then as much a Daily, as that of the Daily Oblation or Sacrifice on the Brazen Altar; which was to be a continual Burnt Offering thro'-out their Generations, and the former agrees with Daniel's Expreffion, whereas the latter

does not.

This likewife agrees with Ezekiel's Expreffion, when the Man with the writers Ink-born, was

to

to fet a Mark on them that Sighed, his order is,
Come not near any Man upon whom is the Mark, 6.

In the next Chapter Ezekiel gives a Descrip. tion that is like to (a) Daniel's and (b) St. John's (a) Dan. Descriptions of Gods Throne, and his Temple in VI1910. Heaven, but no ways fuit with Mofes's Tabernacle IV. 1. or Solomon's Temple. The X Chapter begins VII. 15. thus,

"Then I looked, and behold in the Firmament, Ezek. X. "that was above the Head of the Cherubims, "there appeared over them, as it were, a Saphire"Stone, as the Appearance of the likeness of a "Throne.

"And he (that is, the Ancient of Days) fpake unto the Man Cloathed in Linnen, and faid, "Go in between the Wheels, even under the "Cherub, and fill thine hand with Coals of Fire "from between the Cherubims, and scatter them "over the City----"

Now this agrees exactly with St. John's Defcription, after the Servants of God were Sealed in their Fore-heads, during which fealing

"And another Angel came and stood at the "Altar, having a Golden Cenfer, and there was 'given unto him much Incense, that he should "offer it with the Prayers of all Saints, upon the "Golden Altar, which was before the Throne.

"And the Smoke of the Incense, which came "with the Prayers of the Saints, afcended up "before God out of the Angels Hand.

"And the Angel took the Cenfer and filled "it with Fire of the Altar, and caft it into the "Earth, and there were Voices, and Thundrings, "and Lightnings, and an Earth-quake. ”

Here is a plain taking away the Daily Offering of the Incense from the Golden Altar, and fcattering the Fire on the Earth, that is, among the Common People, which Ezekiel calls the City; and fo the Purity of the visible Worship of the Chriftian Religion being taken away, There was no true Chriftian Church left, but among the

Servants of God, Sealed in the Fore-head, who were difperfed here and there over the World. Thus I have, I think, fufficiently fhewn what was the meaning in Daniel, of taking away Dan.xň. the Daily.

I fhall now proceed to Explain, what is the Abomination of Defolation, or Tranfgreffion of Defolation, meant in the XII. and VIII. Chapters of Daniel; and here we have the Affiftance of the Interpretation given in the XI. Chapter, in which mention is made of Polluting the Sanctuary XI. 31. of Strength, where the Golden Altar of Incense ftood, and not the Brazen Altar for burnt Offer ings, as I have already obferved; and where it is faid, "They fhall take away the daily, and place 3tr "the Abomination that maketh Defolate; And "fuch as do Wickedly fhall He Corrupt by 320 Flatteries.

Who this He is, is described in a few Verfes after,

"And the King fhall do according to his 30. "Will, and He fhall exalt himself, and Magnifie himself above every God, and shall speak mar"vellous
