may help those for whom Thou hast shed Thy precious blood, O most merciful Lord and Saviour. Amen.

FOR GRACE IN TRIAL.

O LORD GOD, when we sit in darkness, be a Light unto us; when we are in doubt and fear, strengthen us by Thy Spirit, and help us, even when there is no light, to hold fast in the darkness by Thee, our one true and only Saviour, and trust in Thee evermore. Grant this for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

FOR A MEEK AND HOLY LIFE.

O GOD, Who art able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think; give us grace to walk worthy of the calling wherewith we are called, with all lowliness, meekness, and long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, and giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

CONCLUDING PRAYER.

TURN Thine Ear, O Lord, to the prayers of Thy humble servants, who have now made their supplications unto Thee. Look not, O Lord, upon the merits of Thy servants, but upon the work of our Redeemer, and for His sake grant us an answer of peace. Amen.

Fourth Week.

SUNDAY EVENING.

'Our Father,' etc.

EVENING Prayer.

O GOD, OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, we thank Thee for Thy Day of holiness and rest. Bless all the means of grace afforded to us this day in Thy Sanctuary. Hear the prayers we have asked of Thee, accept the praises we have offered in Thy House, and grant that we may be doers of Thy Word, and not hearers only, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

THE RESURRECTION LIFE.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, Who hast declared Thyself to be the Resurrection and the Life; lift us up by Thy power from carnal motives to higher and nobler purposes, and grant that, our faces being set heavenwards, we may even here on earth be enabled to follow a heavenly life and conversation, through the power of Thy Holy Spirit, to Whom, with Thee and the Father, be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

FOR BLESSING ON THE Word.

O LORD, bless Thy Word which has been preached this day. May those who have heard it receive it into their hearts and minds. May it be a power in their lives, and a guide to their consciences, leading them into the paths

of holiness and peace here, and into glory hereafter, through the Living Word, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

AGAINST False Doctrine.

O LORD GOD OF TRUTH, keep us ever by Thy grace from all error and false doctrine, from superstition on the one hand, and unbelief on the other, that, walking in the way of Thy commandments, and following the truth as it is in Jesus, we may at last attain unto Thy kingdom and glory, through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

LOVE.

O LORD JESUS, THE SON OF GOD, Who wert manifested to take away our sin, and in Whom was no sin; give us grace to abide in Thee, and sin not, and ever to remember the message which Thou gavest us from the beginning, that we should love one another, that so walking in love, may we glorify Thy Holy Name, O Blessed and Loving Saviour. Amen.

FOR THE IMPENITENT.

FATHER OF MERCIES, Who hast declared that Thou hast no pleasure in the death of Him that dieth; look in mercy upon the impenitent and ungodly, speak to their conscience by Thy Word, open their eyes to Thy truth, soften their hearts by the revelation of Thy Love, and snatch them as brands from the burning, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

MONDAY EVENING.

'Our Father,' etc.

EVENING PRAYER.

O LORD GOD, the Guardian of those that trust in Thee, to Whom the night is as clear as the day; watch over us and all dear to us this night. Keep us under the covert of Thy wings. Give us peaceful sleep, and a happy waking on the morrow, and when we fall asleep for the last time, grant us a glorious waking to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

SELF-DEDICATION.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who hast redeemed us with the price of Thy most precious blood; we desire to dedicate ourselves, our souls and bodies, to Thy service. Accept us, O Lord, we beseech Thee; give us grace to yield ourselves wholly unto Thee, and so to serve Thee in this life, that at the last day we may enter into the joys which Thou hast promised to Thy faithful servants, and live with Thee, world without end. Amen.

FOR THOSE INn Suffering.

OLORD, Who art very pitiful, and of tender mercy, and Who hast graciously given unto us health and peace; look in compassion upon those who are at this time suffering anguish of mind or body. Ease their pain, O Lord, deliver them from their distress, and grant them Thy

peace which passeth all understanding, for Jesus Christ's sake.

Amen.

FREEDOM.

O LORD GOD, our Deliverer and our King, grant us Thy Holy Spirit, that we may be able to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, using such liberty, not as an occasion to the flesh, but by love, serving one another, as faithful brethren in Christ Jesus, our blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

FOR FAITH IN PRAYER.

O LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Son of God, our great High Priest, Who hast passed into the heavens; give us grace to hold fast our confession, and, as we know Thee to be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, having been tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin, help us to draw near with boldness to the Throne of Grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help in time of need, and to Thee be honour and glory, now and for evermore. Amen.

AGAINST VINDICTIVENESS.

O GOD, Who hast taught us the duty of forgiveness by Thine own infinite love and mercy; give us grace to forgive those who have offended us in word or deed. May we never let the sun go down upon our wrath, but ever forgive, if we have aught against anyone, even as Thou our Father in Heaven hast so often forgiven us, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
