WEDNESDAY.-Jer. xvii. 21.-Thus saith the Lord, Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. THURSDAY.-Jer. xvii. 22.-Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers. FRIDAY.-Neh. xiii. 15.-In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine-presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. SATURDAY.-Neh. xiii. 17.-Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? LESSON XXIII. 75 MONDAY.-Lev. xxvi. 34.-Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land, even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. TUESDAY.-Lev. xxvi. 35.-As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. WEDNESDAY.-Jer. xxv. 11.-And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. THURSDAY.-2 Chron. xxxvi. 20.-And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia.
