MONDAY.-Deut. xxxiii. 2.-And he said, the Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them. TUESDAY.-Neh. ix. 13.-Thou camest down also upon Mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: WEDNESDAY.-Rom. ii. 15.-Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another. THURSDAY.-Prov. xxviii. 9.-He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. FRIDAY.-Prov. xxix. 18.-Where there is no vision the people perish: but he that keepeth the law happy is he. SATURDAY.-Matt. v. 17.-Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. SABBATH.-Matt. v. 18.-For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Use of the Law. LESSON III. 55 MONDAY.-Deut. xxix. 29.-The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever; that we may do all the words of this law. TUESDAY.-Ps. cxix. 34.-Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. WEDNESDAY.-Prov. xiii. 14.-The law of the wise is a fountain of * life, to depart from the snares of death. THURSDAY.-Rom. ii. 13.-For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. FRIDAY.-Rom. v. 20.-Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. SATURDAY.-Rom. vii. 7.-What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin but by the law for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. SABBATH. Gal. iii. 19.-Wherefore then serveth the law? To know and do his will. 56 Love, the whole of God's Law. LESSON IV. MONDAY.-Deut. vi. 5.—And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. TUESDAY.-Rom. xiii. 10.-Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. WEDNESDAY.-Matt. xxii. 37.-Jesus saith unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. THURSDAY.-Matt. xxii. 38.-This is the first and great command ment. FRIDAY.-Matt. xxii. 39.—And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. MONDAY.-Gen. xv. 14.—And also that nation whom they shall serve, will I judge, and afterward they shall come out with great substance. TUESDAY.-Ex. xii. 41.—And it came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years, even the self-same day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. WEDNESDAY.-Hosea xi. 1.—When Israel was a child then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. THURSDAY.-Hosea xi. 4.-I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them. FRIDAY.-Ex. xix. 18.—And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. SATURDAY.-Ex. xix. 19.—And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. MONDAY.-Ex. xx. 3.—Thou shalt have no other gods before me. TUESDAY.-Ex. xxxiv. 14.-For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. WEDNESDAY.-Matt. iv. 10.-Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. THURSDAY.-Isa. xliii. 10.-Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no god formed, neither shall there be after me. FRIDAY.-Deut. xxvi. 7.—And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labor, and our oppression. SATURDAY.-PS. cxlv. 1.—I will extol thee, my God, O King; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. SABBATH.-PS.
