Page 417. The Arundelian collection was not fold by Jane, dutchess of Norfolk, but by Mary the divorced dutchefs, daughter and heiress of the earl of Peterborough. Though divorced, the carried out of the family of Norfolk great part of that noble collection, which, with her paternal estate, she bequeathed to her second husband, Sir John Germaine. His widow, lady Elizabeth Germaine, gave the cabinet of cameos and intaglias to his grace the present duke of Marlborough.

After the Scots had urged, or rather compelled Charles to take the Covenant, and had actually degraded him to the impotent condition of a doge, they crowned him king, at Scoon, 1 January, 1650--1.
