v. 3
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusa-
lem, and cry unto her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardon-
ed for she hath received at the Lord's hand double for all her sins.
SERMON II.
The Harbinger.
Isaiah, xl. 3—5.
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord,
make straight in the desert a high-way for our God. Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and bill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made
straight, and the rough places plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. .
SERMON III.
The shaking of the Heavens and the Earth.
Haggai, ii. 6, 7.
Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the
heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land: And I will shake all nations,
and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with glory, saith
the Lord of hosts.
SERMON IV.
The Lord coming to his Temple.
Malachi, iii. 1—3.
The Lord whom, ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple; even the messenger of
the covenant whom ye delight in: Behold, he shall come saith the Lord of hosts.
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth?
for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap-And he shall purify the sons of
Levi-that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.
